Description It was around two in the afternoon now. Eddie could tell by the way the sun was beating down on his already dry, worn skin. Looking around he could see the clouds, some shaped like cotton candy. It had been a long time since Eddie had tasted anything sweet; anything at all really. Down on the ground he could see the luscious grass flooded with a sea of dandelions, and hear the bees buzzing around them fishing for their catch of the day. “Honey,” he thought. Looking about he couldn’t help but think of how beautiful everything was; how peaceful; how perfect. It made him sick to think that just a few short hours ago he would not have noticed any of the pristine beauty that lay before him now. He could not remember a single moment in his life where he had stopped to appreciate something as small and simple as a few flowers bedded into the ground, tucked in tightly by mother earth. He had seen them his whole life, they were always there, but he just never paid any attention to them. Even now he could recall old Ms. Harpers hanging Babylon of greens and reds and purples cascading down the sides of her rickety old porch; it was not nearly one of the Seven Wonders of the World, but it was most definitely one of the only wonderful things in his old neighborhood. Eddie had seen that garden everyday for the past fifteen years and until now never given it a second thought, not one single thought until now when he kneel on grass clutching the wound on his side.
