Description Just got home from watching Steven Spielberg's latest film, The Fabelmans.
What a brilliant film he has made. A semi autobiography paying tribute to his love for films from when he was only a young boy, while also diving deep into his humble up bringing. The film almost feels like a bunch of old home family videos collected over the years, documenting the Fabelmans story through the eyes of a young aspiring film maker, Sam Fabelman. We get a close look at how Sam Fablemans love for film making, eventually helps him uncover a dark family secret. One which will shape his family's entire future. The film focuses heavily around the joys and problems that families face, and there are elements throughout the film that we as an audience, can all definitely relate to one way or another to our own lives.
It's emotional and deep on so many levels. And it really highlights what it means to follow one's heart, and the risks we take in order to live out our dreams

While the film won't ever hit the heights of Spielberg's signature films, it really is a love letter to his passion of film making, a film that only a legendary director of his calibre, has earnt the right to make. Michelle Williams performance is absolutely phenomenal, she absolutely nailed it! She deserves a nomination for best actress in a leading role at the Oscars, at the very least. While she was the stand out performance, every single actor in the film is magnificent.
All in all, I walked out of the cinema extremely impressed, Speilberg has delivered a beautiful film, one which gives us a close look at what helped shape and inspire, one the greatest minds in the history of film making. 7/10
