honestly ,I dont need to spin ya a story over my art work, and I dont need to lie , or cheat , what ya see is pure art work and I NEVER need to use foto shop, or any other PC progrmme, ( and any way I aint clever when it comes to using a PC )
this piece is as I said pure airbrush.

Hi ,
I never took it as an insult or anything of that kind, it,s just that I get so many people making comment like " it amazing what you can do in photoshop" and to tell you the truth it kinda pee,s me off, PC are the toys of the 21st century ok BUT they,re killin artists who slave over a drawing or painting for days using thier talent and not a load of buttons.
I,m sorry if you got the feeling that I was attacking you but I think you can appreciate just how much it gets up my nose when people dont bother to ask me first if it,s hand work or PC work.
And I can tell you when it comes to working a PC I,m as thick as a brick, I,m near on 60 now and it,s a bit late to start learning another way of making art other than using the tools that I been using for years. ie., airbrush, polychrome pencils and normal grahpite pencils .
if you wanna see the work of the clever one in this family then go read my journal and follow the link, I,d be interested to hear you opinion.
thanks for your interest and I apologize if you thought in any way I was " havin a go at you" I hoped that a few other folks would read the comment and finally realize that I,m an artist who sits days long at a drawing board and not in front of a PC: Hope you will forgive me , and hope you will continue to follow my work and also comment on it .
as always , take care stay lucky Gunny

I just wanted to say that I completely agree with you. I'm always dissappointed when I realize that the art I'm looking at was done on a computer. There are so many people that do beautiful work by hand and I have huge respect for that. Doing it on the computer seems like cheating

I have the ability to do artwork on the computer....but how does that help me improve my skills? When I improve enough to do something with a paintbrush that people do on the computer, I'll know I've succeeded through hard work. THAT'S an accomplishment.

You do awesome work, thank yu for sharing it with us

welcome to the club, hand work beats a PC any day.
I,m glad we sorted our thoughts out, I love the Dev ( it,s my only contact with the outside world) and I love to hear peoples thoughts over my work, but most just write one sentence and move on. It,s great when some one like yourself stops by and writes more.
I,m ever so sorry if we did ( rather I did) get off on the wrong foot ,but like I said I,m more than glad that we at least voiced our own oppinions and got it sorted out ( am I waffling here? sorry)
hey gotta tell ya I love this " dont make come down there" thing from you, I sometimes wish he would, I gotta few points to clear with him.hahahhahahaha
take care stay lucky Gunny

Even the Animation Movies that are hand-drawn are SO MUCH BETTER than the Computer 3D Generated in the present! Disney now SUCKS! And ALL OF THEM!!!

Where the heck is The Lion King spirit... Aladdin???

DreamsCreations In reply to tomijovanoski [2006-01-09 03:13:59 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely agree! Thinking back, the last Animation filmed that nicely combined Computer Graphics with hand-drawn animation was Treasure Planet. It had Computer Generated effects but they never bothered me. And the only 3D Animated movies I like are from Pixar, and just Toy Story 1 & 2 and Finding Nemo. Aladdin is and will always be my favorite. And Polar Express... I don't like that movie.

Well... It's the same with the Computer Games (if anyone is playing Adventure Point 'n Click stuff...)... The Lucas Arts were the best company doing this... I mean... Just look at the Monkey Island series... It's good work, exelent work may say... Until the 4th... Where the 3D ruins all! Just take a look at "Monkey Island 3: The Curse of Monkey Island" (1998), and compare with "Monkey Island 4: Escape from Monkey Island" (2000)... It's so sad that the pencil art is removed with 3D everywhere.... I mean, 3D is useful, but not in every point of creation... U know what I mean???

DreamsCreations In reply to tomijovanoski [2006-01-10 15:39:40 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely!
3D seems so easy to animate... try doing it on 2D!!
I greatly admire the animations that are so fluent and make the movement so real!

It's okay. I understand. I have not acquired any skills at painting with the computer either, I find it so cold. I like the freedoom of doing with the pencil whatever you want and have total control.
Personally I am scared at those new machines that draw a picture of you in seconds. What is the fun in that?! It is as fake, there is no feeling and no human effort on that.
Sometimes I get to think like the indians did when the saw a camera for the first time. They never want their pictures taken because it will steal their souls away.

I greatly admire your work, and mostly when it comes from the flesh and bone.

Uhh... I didn't meant to insult or nothing... Just that in Photoshop there is a tool called airbrush as well and I was confused. Like I said, it IS an amazing work, and mostly I am more impressed when this quality work comes right from the flesh than from a computer.
