Serial Experiments Lain is a anime difficult to explain, and you can love or can hate it: despite that, it remains a landmark of anime, an incredible work of aesthetics and visual storytelling, and a must see for everyone (especially the people around 20 or less) who wants to delve into that incredibly crazy, turbulent and McGyver-ishly creative phase was the 90s and the very early 00s, an era when suddenly that media wanted to tell new things in new ways, and whose trippiest moments were never repeated again.

(and I'm really not having rose tinted glasses or bla bla bla, I'm serious, there is literally no weird current anime that is as weird as the weirdest things from those years, some anime makers literally didn't gave a damn about anything but making what they wanted, and I respect it so goddamn much!)
