Description Nobody really knows where the Marì , the melancholic reclusive witch of the marshes, come from, nor her origins and purposes, despite having seen her many times in the distance.
Some say she's a cursed creature, others say she's the troubled spirit of a lost child, someone assures she's a ancient deity who lost her sanctuary.
One thing everyone agrees on is her appearance: a slim young woman or girl with wild ruffled hair, wearing a dark decaying cloak and a pair of metallic bracelets she sometimes makes resound rubbing together.
She knows the languages of the birds, but she seldom speaks, or even let herself be seen by people, and her shy personality forces her to run away.Β
And that last one is the main thing she seems to do: running faster than the wind, even on her home's swampy ground, on a couple of thin, supernaturally long legs curiously reminiscing of the non flying Strider Herrons she's so fond of...

Running, taking care of swamp animals, running again, and sometimes dancing in mysterious cerimonials.

It is common belief that leaving the marshlands for prolongued time is fatal to her, but once per year she feels light-hearted enough to visit the town by night, and to have fun jumping and running around on the roofs: for this reason the villagers leave outdoors little sweet bread buns, to convince her to not climb up their homes, and a piece of rug to help her repair her eternal cloak: in return she brings good luck against swamp diseases and ill weather.

A quite obscure character, she's known just in a bunch of towns and villages on the edge of the Beror Marshlands, but being one of the few notable things in there she's got a remarkable amount of sayings and beliefs about her, such as that her bracelets are magical, or that she leaves magical petals on the muddy water, but only when she blooms (whatever that means...), or that the one who is so rude to stare up beneath her cloak will be attacked and kicked savagely by a flock of Strider Herrons...

Thanks for the kind words ^^ really glad you enjoyed, and I'm quite fond of this design, it's from a period when I was very interested in the concept of having characters with peculiar disproportions, inspired in a good part by the books of local legends, in which the creatures often have bizarre traits like these

The intent was to make her clearly non human in measures, but keeping a certain weird grace (Also I found funny the idea of making a sort of giant person, who actually isn't a real giant, but just a person with quite loong legs... luckily she isn't interested in wearing boots or stockings )

And I always have a lot of fun trying to make a background out of a detail, or a item, or a character xD (wish I could make plots that easily xD)
