Finished badge commission for Mel Royer on behalf ofThis is her Pommeranian character, Pepper. I'm very happy with how this badge turned out, especially the hair and background. Her outfit is based on one she's already drawn. The shape in the background is a larger version of the designs on her shoulders and tops of her hands.
There is faint glitter inside the larger sun shape in the background but the scanner may not have picked it up very well.
This was scanned on a large foil baking pan to show the diecut.

This is absolutely beautiful. You did such a great job on the coloring and overall appearance of this badge.
The elegance of her pose and look is stunningly gorgeous and I especially have a liking to how well the colors of her hair turned out (particularly on the tips). Her eyes are so lovely, her garbs/jewelry look splendid on her and her markings and eyeliner have this nice sense of boldness that really stands out nicely. The background colors in addition to the black lettering seem to fit so well with the character and the overall piece is really, really magnificent.
I also wanted to say how I think itβs really cool how you use different things for backgrounds and how they always seem to fit so nicely with the badge (Iβm fairly certain itβs an aluminum pan, but it still looks really cool for this badge)

how do you get the gel pen to work on prismas? i tried using one- a gelly roll pen to do highlighting and it refuses to work...

When I do use the gel pen, I do it last because sometimes it takes a few layers to make the white its whitest such as on the black areas in this badge. I did about 6 layers in the black, maybe 2 on the lighter colors to the left. The brand of gel pen may be a factor also. The kind I use I got from Joanne crafts and the brand name is "Gelly Roll" Med (Sakura/Japan). I don't remember how much I paid, but they're fairly cheap and they cover very well. I also wipe my gel pen a lot on the paper after going over a color once because this brand picks up the color you apply it to faintly. Perhaps try layering the gel pen over itself several times to brighten the intensity of the white, letting it dry somewhat otherwise your fresher strokes will wipe away the previous layers. Is that the problem you're having or is the gel pen not adhering to the prismas at all?

gelly roll is the brand i use- the pencil basically gets caked in the tip or the ink doesn't come out on the prisma at all- i tried the wipe and go method- the only method that works but is uneven and a pain is the lightly tap and smudge method.

How hard do you press? I try not to rub away at the prismas below but gently mask over with the gel pen. Other than that, I'm not too sure what to suggest

not too hard- more like a gentle rub, but i guess maybe i should take a paper towel or sppon and rub the pencil before i use the pen... buff out the extra pencil buildup..

sometimes I wipe the pencils off on my shirt or pants, lol or if I were working on my bed, on the quilt. XD XD
