Description As promised in one of my older images, how I cheated in drawing a Gundam's backside... but it works!

----------------------------------------------------------
STEP - 01

Draw an outline of your Mobile Suit. I choose a basic Gundam design, but it also works for more rounded designs like the Zaku and such.

At this point, you don't want any details. Just the basic pose, and boxes.

STEP - 02

You see that arm in the back? All hidden by the torso... Well, make it the new closest point. Start at the shoulder, and make the boxes below fit the boxes ( for the most part) of the original image.

By adding in new sides to the arm, you can make it look like it's actualy bent the right way, and seen from the back!

STEP - 03

The rest of it should come pretty easily once you get the torso boxes set up for the new back. The new left side leg needs a box re-adjustment, since it's side used to be the front of the leg, but that is pretty simple if you kept the drawing as such. Details can come later.

Notice how the right leg in the first picture was kind of forward and flat, and the left all 3-D'ish? Now that you've turned the Gundam around, the limbs have changed their look... but it still looks accurate... but from the back!

STEP - 04

Look! You now have a Gundam facing away from you!

Now it's time to add more to the drawing by adding the details in and such. But that's not what I promised But now that you know how to cheaply turn a "standard" posed Gundam around, the rest is up to you!

--------------------------------------------------------

I really rushed through the image, but if you take your time, you can get a much nicer, more natural pose.

Here's the images that inspired the "How To"

Wow, very clever, I never figured out that was so effective, I always tried in the old style, with wooden dummy or reference pics.
Sweet trick

Hmm, if I recall correctly, one of Nidaram's friends (or was it Nick himself?) uses this technique as well. It's an easy way to put two views within the same perspective.

Nice description of the steps, Matt.
