I am currently obsessing over Adlock (Adler + Sherlock) and have been reading fanfic after fanfic. This isn't based on one fic alone, but the general consensus of their son being named Nero Wolfe (see William Baring Gould). I just added in the Irish Setter puppy, named after Sherlock's deceased dog of the same name.Related content

lovely. It looks right out of the show.
Of course, Irene matters to Sherlock, she never left his mind, because she is constantly in his mind palace. In HLV Moriarty said "The Woman will cry." while Sherlock was dying during the gunshot. It looks like he is in touch with the Woman.

As much as it's nice to think of Sherlock having a family (beyond John, Mary and Mrs Hudson), somehow I can't see him being able to hack being a father. A horribly indulgent uncle to train the young Watson in all the wrong attitudes and behaviours, yes, but not a father.
That said, if there was ever a woman who could put up with him, it would be That Woman.

In most of the fan fictions, he really isn't a good father, at least not in a normal sense of the word LOL there's usually tons of laughs whenever I read those daddy Sherlock jokes but since Nero Wolfe is said to be just as smart, if not more so than his father (esp with the wit he got from his mother), they usually get along fine in the fics
