In advance, I apologise for posting a sliiiightly offensive picture. The characters are all mine (one is an adopted Hoodian from the Good Ending), so no offense there, but some may take badly to the possesive/lascive vibe of the picture. So, I'm sorry. I'm only posting it because it came out really good with little effort needed, so I want to share the process.

Let's see. The sketch was drawn on paper and the lineart was done by the lovely marker I got for Christmas. I'm starting to love it. Then the lineart was scanned and imported into Sai. I coloured it with basic colours and added two layers of shading. When I make two-level cell shading, I heed these guidelines: first layer covers everything that isn't directly lighted, second layer covers areas where no light can access. I lowered the opacity of each layer to about 50 %, and there you go, a nice digitally coloured picture with muted colours.

What I like the most about this way of colouring is that it's interesting all the way through and each step takes little time. When I colour traditionally using coloured pencils, I know that a long journey awaits me when I get to the colouring part. It's interesting to try for realistic shading, but it's also boring because it takes so long.

Notes about the setting: picture taken in the Cathead Mountain (in the room where Willie was covered with weasel insides). It's Kalikat's room now. From above: Kceler (featured in NH: If You Like ), Kalikat, Krevel.
