Chat challenge # 7 at . To draw your character as a young child.

Which just intrigued me, as my little blue poison dart frog character Oko went though quite a few stages during his first part of life.

Baby Oko: Egg... Taurs reproduce in beta shape, but give birth in omega (taur) shape. So I figure frogtaurs have a short pregnancy before giving birth to eggs with little frogtaurs in them.
Blue poison dart frogs place their eggs on land in very moist places, and nurture them until they hatch into little tadpoles. So Oko's parents made sure to take will care of him.

Toddler Oko: Tadpole. - After hatching, the male frog will carry the little tadpoles to small ponds. Still without their poisonous skin, they are wearing dark camouflage colours.

Small child Oko: Froglet - The tadpole will grow in the water, and develop legs, before slowly losing it's tail. As blue poison dart frogs really are horrible swimmers once they reach their frog shape, they'll come out of water once that happens.
The distinctive blue colour develop together with the frog body, so once the tail is all gone, the small frog is sporting the pretty blue "I'm toxic" warning colours.

It's sort of scary how long it took me to actually find decent references for the correct tadpole and froglet colours.
I do however love how they grow more colourful with their frog shape.
