I've always loved this cover by John Buscema and Tom Palmer showing a strange set of Avengers: Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau), the Captain (an identity for Steve Rogers after he stopped being Captain America), She-Hulk, Dr. Druid, the Black Knight, Namor the Sub-Mariner, Machine Man and Marrina. It's too bad they didn't stay together-- there would have been some great stories to tell with this team.

I also think Brainiac would have been a great foe for the Avengers, considering their history with Ultron.

This Brainiac image is from Superman: the Animated Series, but I don't have a specific art credit.
