They had some good aspects - how the Impossibles were done story-wise wasn't one of them - really disliked 95% of that! That horrible Franky Jr, repair scene in particular undermines the great camaraderie they have in the cartoon - really took the heart out of them. Prime example of "fixing" what's far from broken!Β

Since I don't remember much of the Impossibles, aside that they were a rock bandΒ that looked like the Three Stooges with added powers. I think I'll purchase the DVD of their cartoon episodes to get a full feel for the band.

My favourite cartoon ever! And you will see how Future Quest has ruined them story-wise! So much of the original premise was thrown aside at the beginning, and the over-done "feminist" aspect of the comic is shoved further down the reader's throat with the double dose of it the 'Imps get; the already over-used Deva replacing the original Big D, (hard-nosed harpy in the guise of a "strong woman" who gives me the impression she would sneer at their fans and is more scary and less likeable than the great foe Omnikron)!! and the needless new member, (would be O.K. as supporting character but NOT one of the 'Imps)!! getting in the way of the original's interaction - they hardly even seem like friends after their first couple of appearances. Some of the art is better than others at making them look like realistic versions of heir cartoon selves, even when by the same artist; (thought it best in 5, 9 and 11 of the individual issues), but I DON'T like Multi's delightful and distinctive original costume being changed for this much blander one! Even their origin story here isn't a plus for me as I prefer it being a mystery in their case. So I hope this version of my favourites dosen't HAVE a future.........!!!!!!!!

The nice thing I've learned with comics over the years is that there will always,be certain interpretations of characters that I enjoy and others that I don't. The poor stories never take away my enjoyment of the good ones. Also, if you are patient, there's always another interpretation coming down the road. I enjoyed FQ for what it was, which I can't say for the other Hanna Barbera comics released at the same time.

The Impossibles need a writer who "gets" them - Mr. Parker is a great guy and a good writer - FQ has some aspects I like - but isn't the right one for the 'Imps. They need a reintroduction rather than a reboot, (the latter so often means "fixing what was never broken", and the FQ Impossibles version is a glaring example of that)!! The Impossibles are my all-time favourites and are so often left out of HB stuff - in this case, it would have been better if they HAD been left out! As to Scooby Apocalypse and Wacky Raceland, etc., at they are alternate universe type stories and not meant to replace or add to the original. (Didn't like the Flintstones one - too po-faced and dreary for the subject). Β

Too right! The author just does not "get" the Impossibles.

The Impossibles are my favorite HB superheroes, so of course I would've revolted!

Rally Ho!
Of course The Impossibles shared airtime with Frankenstein Jr. So imagine if Frankie and Buzz met the Hulk and Rick Jones.

That would be a fun team up. I should really do a new Hanna Barbera heroes pic. I have a do Space Ghost pic in the works, but maybe a pic with Birdman, SG, Atom Ant, Frankenstein Jr, Β and a few others. Thanks for the idea!

Hahaha. I can see Birdman trying to make time with Hawkgirl and a jealous Hawkman is about to whack him with a mace. Atom Ant meets Ant-Man. Nick Fury meets Secret Squirrel. Dazzler meets Josie and the Pussycats.Β The Guardians of the Galaxy Meets The Galaxy Trio. And, of course,Β Jonah Hex VS Quickdraw McGraw.

This is why I never rank the Impossibles in with the other HB superheroes, they'd stick out like sore thumbs.

So very true - and fitting them in means more than making them look more realistic as they have a totally different story style, so I'd definately rather they didn't try!!!

This is fun. ^-^ I love the Impossibles, they're really one of the more underrated characters of HB and not as well known as others.

Yes, it's fun looking through them! DC's own "Future Quest" comic has a version of the Impossibles, (my all-time favourites)! along with other Hanna-Barbera characters, but for that comic, I feel they should have simply been made more realistic looking and left at that - I really don't like the other changes to them.

You can order copies online, and perhaps your local newsagent could order some for you, if you don't live near a comic shop?

I do but we had a falling out a few years back. I've been getting what few comics I'm buying at Hastings, but they are going out of business.
And I hate reading online if I can avoid it.

There are a lot of online stores that you can use, not only comic specialists - someone mentioned buying them on Amazon - and there are some on Ebay.
