This is great! Out of curiosity, what fabric did you end up using for the general tunic/etc?

I'm sorry, I don't remember. I made this costume several years ago and I bought the fabric in the LA fashion district. All I remember was it was a definite struggle finding the right shade of blue with a decent weight.

Hi! Your cosplay is absolutely amazing! I was wondering how you made/where you bought the tiara. I've never made anything like it before, and I'm not very artistic! Also, did you make the armor yourself? Was it very difficult? I want to be Lucina for Halloween, and I had bought my costume online, but I just found out that my order never went through and now there's no WAY I can get Β the costume in time...so I'm trying to improvise my own in the little bit of time I have left...

Hiya and thanks a bunch! The tiara and armor was made by . The tiara was heatformed acryllic and the shoulder armor was vacuuformed styrene. It was a lot of work to get the base piece to vacuuform over. If you're pressed for time, I would recommend an easier material like craft foam. There a several craft foam armor tutorials online so find one that works for you. Good luck on your costume!!

Thanks! I scrambled around today and found just about everything I need for the costume. I just need to make the cape now! I ended up getting a similar tiara online. It's not perfect, but it will do! Thanks for answering me so quickly!! ^.^

Hey, Um, sorry to bother you, but I did some research and found out that Marth wasn't actually Marth, but it was actually Lucina trying to save her dad from future events....so what happened to the real Marth?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Gwiffen In reply to Doom-Boy [2013-06-03 04:29:47 +0000 UTC]

The real Marth died long long ago. Chrom and Lucina are both descendents of Marth.

Hi I love Lucina cosplay! I want to cosplay her for Sakura-Con 2014 but I'm really lost on how to start making the costume. She would be my second cosplay. Do you have any tips or tricks? Any advice, patterns, or tutorials? Please reply I really want to do this cosplay!

Oh yeah and if you want to get a beautiful "Marth" mask you should check out ~lisu-c 's store . He's the one who made my mask and armor/accesories as well.

Thank you! I'd be glad to help if you have questions on anything specific. I drafted my own patterns for this costume and just sort of winged it on most of it. If you're interested in getting a really well made Falchion you should check out my friends at Hard Work & Guts ! They'll be putting up Falchions for sale soon!

By all means! I'm not very good at explaining stuff like this though since I had to pattern it from scratch but I'll try!

Wow your Lucina is amazing, I just have to say.
If you don't mind, do you mind explaining how you made her belts and tiara? My first cosplay is going to be Lucina so I hope that it could be just as well as yours!

Gwiffen In reply to YumiDoll [2013-05-31 07:03:08 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! My tiara was made by - you should check him out! He made my armor and mask as well as a few other accessories. He's actually selling Marth masks at his online store if you're interested. For the belts, I used pleather and sewed it into a belt shaped thing. Good luck on your first costume! Lucina's quite a doozy but you can do it!

I've been struggling with a Lucina cosplay, mostly with the fabric. What technique did you use to get the lines that run down the sleeves and leggings? I bought a shirt to alter but couldn't figure out how to make the lines look nice.

Also, what pattern did you alter for her vest? I was thinking of just winging it, but I'm afraid that might bite me in the butt and cost me a lot of money >.>

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Gwiffen In reply to LaurenAblaze [2013-05-28 22:14:45 +0000 UTC]

I think the technical term for those are pintucks. What I did was take a sleeve/pants pattern and drew in the stripes. Then I cut along those stripes and numbered them and laid them out on my fabric. I added some extra seam allowance between each strip and cut it out and sewed along the extra seam allowance I gave myself so that way I had a sleeve with the lines. They don't seem to show up very well in the pictures unfortunately.

And I didn't really alter an existing pattern for the tunic. I sort of winged it and patterned it out by draping over a dressform. Use a cheapo fabric on the mock up. It took me three tries...

How did you do the gold binding? Did you make it or buy it? What kind of fabric is it? Sorry for all the questions! I'm feeling lost on the binding ><

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Gwiffen In reply to Viverra1 [2013-04-17 19:26:36 +0000 UTC]

The binding is metallic gold PVC that I picked up in the hippie district of San Francisco. I cut it into strips and sewed it on like bias tape. It's tricky to work with since it will wrinkle at corners and curves. I'm still on the hunt for a perfect metallic fabric with a good weight.

Out of curiosity, how did you make the sword?

Gwiffen In reply to Kiarou [2013-04-10 05:58:26 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
I didn't make the sword but I saw how it was made. It's was 3D modeled and cut out with a CNC router and then there was some laser engraving and claying and sanding involved. Here's his FB page Hard Work and Guts where he posted his progress.

Mostly I'm just curious how to make the armor. Haha, maybe I should get them commissioned too ._.U

Gwiffen In reply to Neoka-Chan [2013-04-10 06:03:08 +0000 UTC]

Haha it wasn't so much a commission as a favor from my boyfriend. Mine was vacuu-formed but you could probably just heat form some plastic/foam and shape it. My Kirito armor was just heated and treated craft foam but it's a much simpler design than Lucina's.
