Well now, this is.... well, it's something. I don't really think I did a very good job with this, particularly since it's my first time ever drawing shoes. And I know I'm not good at it at all :/

...also, I HATE drawing hands! >_<

So anyway, this is something I've kinda been sitting on for a while; I've been meaning to draw Akira at a younger age for some time now, so... here she is, side by side with her adult counterpart!

Ever since I decided that Akira would be a young adult, I've always wanted to draw her younger, though I must say, while it's easy to come up with more mature versions of certain characters, it was a little awkward coming up with a younger design for Akira, though her hair was something I'd planned from the start. While I've already talked about Akira's design and overall character, I still have a bit more to mention, particularly in regards to her younger self:

-I'm not entirely sure about how young Akira came out overall, but her hair is the part I'm most proud of. I've had a pretty tough time drawing Akira's trademark three-spiked bangs into two spikes without leaving such a prominent central parting in/near the center.

-Where as the adult Akira I've made to look somewhat sexy, yet sporty, sophisicated, and confident, the young Akira I've tried to make appear a bit more uncertain of herself; though she wears the vest to appear confident, she's unwilling to wear anything flashy or with any special designs or decals.

-Anyone wondering why Akira has heterochromia (why her eyes are two different colors), I'm sorry to say I don't really have a canonical reason, though it may simply just be heterochromia.

-I know I should be talking about the young Akira, but it's worth noting that the shoes for the adult Akira also house roller blade wheels, which are retractable, allowing her to switch from walking to skating almost instantly.

-As a child, Akira was rather meek, sheepish, subdued, and feared not only failure, but also feared success. However, at age 8, she met an older girl named Kumoru Amanohara, who, in their time together, taught her to be believe in herself, and to become brave and strong no matter what.

-As children, Akira and Kumoru loved to play games with each other; Dungeon Dice Monsters and Duel Monsters being their favorite games, but Kumoru never lost once, no matter how good Akira got. When Kumoru was forced to move two years after they first met, Akira promised that she would meet her friend and inspiration again one day, and that she would be strong enough to win against her when they did.

-She has an older brother, Segata Yushida, who is a very strong professional duelist about 5 years older than her. Since this is close to Kumoru's age, he ocassionally jokes about making Kumoru his girlfriend someday (making Akira often feel jealous).
