Description Drew this in my energy systems class because the presentations went over 40 minutes past when class was over. I have no idea why I bothered staying the entire time.

Drawn in PaintTool SAI with a trackpad.

Estonia belongs to Himaruya Hidekazu.
This drawing belongs to me, GydroZMaa .

Did you really do this with a trackpad?
I applaud you. I could never have the patience for that.

This is really cool! Where did you get the idea?

On a totally unrelated note, what was the presentation about? Energy systems seems like an interesting class.

I was doodling Estonia typing something in a difference class and decided to draw a colored version.

Energy systems is supposed to be a useful class, but the professor teaches it in a weird way. I guess it's because I'm not a senior like everyone ele in the class, but I had a hard time applying the information.

Oh, cool! It's pretty.

Well, since you're not a senior, that means you're taking a higher-level class, right? So that's good!

GydroZMaa In reply to maplelava [2014-05-07 22:30:54 +0000 UTC]

I feel out of place, though. Everyone's talking about either graduating, internships, and projects, but I haven't done any of that yet...

maplelava In reply to GydroZMaa [2014-05-07 22:34:03 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see. You can still ask them for advice, though, so when you're a senior you can be the one helping your peers and juniors!

Ooh, I don't know about that. The senior engineers are very strange and sexist. I'm pretty much the same, through I'm not as sexist towards guys.

maplelava In reply to GydroZMaa [2014-05-07 22:58:51 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, that's not very nice... I always thought guys liked girls who knew the same stuff as them. I myself like math and science, which are usually considered to be male-dominant while girls stick to language arts, but the guys who like those classes think I'm pretty cool. Are you the only non-senior in your class?

I think the computer science majors are the worst. Unless you're on the same level as them, they treat everyone like incompetent people. It's sort of a weird nature I deal with in my school with the engineers. The further you get into your major, the more you notice this.

maplelava In reply to GydroZMaa [2014-05-07 23:10:42 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. I like computer science... if I were to go into that, being just as good at it as the boys, how would they treat me?
I know what it's like when people treat others like incompetent people... one of my fellow students does that, and he's pretty much disliked by everyone. I've never encountered this before, though, in an entire group... Perhaps you should ask a psychology student about it?

GydroZMaa In reply to maplelava [2014-05-08 01:13:59 +0000 UTC]

Since girls are rare in computer science, the attractive and lively ones get quite a bit of attention. You don't need to consult psychology majors on this kind of issue. They're kind of a joke.

maplelava In reply to GydroZMaa [2014-05-08 01:15:36 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see. That's pretty interesting...
Psychology majors are kind of a joke? Isn't psychology actually pretty hard, though? After all, they are trying to understand how the mind works...

GydroZMaa In reply to maplelava [2014-05-08 01:33:46 +0000 UTC]

It's because it consists of most of analyzing than innovating studies. That's why psychology is filed under social sciences at my university. The field is dedicated to those who really want to go into the field and beyond. However, most of the students use psychology for counseling or child development purposes if they don't go into research or psychiatry.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

maplelava In reply to GydroZMaa [2014-05-08 01:37:31 +0000 UTC]

Oh, okay. You're one who innovates, right?

Ah. So the ones who are in psychology now are likely to go into a career with counseling or child development?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GydroZMaa In reply to maplelava [2014-05-08 02:28:15 +0000 UTC]

Eh, it's kind of funny when you talk to them. If you talk to the seniors or juniors, they're like, "I think I'm going into criminalistics or a counseling job." Otherwise, they say, "I have no idea what I'm going to do." The sociology majors are funnier.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

maplelava In reply to GydroZMaa [2014-05-08 02:33:24 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha! Criminalistics? What does that even have to do with psychology?
Sociology majors? What do they even go into for a career if they major in sociology?
I have no idea what I'm going to do, either, but I'd like to work with biotechnology in the viruses field... Like, a biotechnical engineer that specializes in viruses... If you don't mind, could you give me some ideas as to what path I should follow through high school?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GydroZMaa In reply to maplelava [2014-05-08 02:41:29 +0000 UTC]

I think you want to major in bioengineering then.

If your school has the classes, get good grades in AP/IB Biology, Calculus AB and BC, Statistics, Chemistry, and Physics C. Anything history or English-related can be taken as regular classes as long as you get A's in them, but the AP or honors route boosts your GPA.

maplelava In reply to GydroZMaa [2014-05-08 02:52:27 +0000 UTC]

Bioengineering... I'll remember that.

I'm not in the IB program, but I do plan to take as many AP courses as I can, so I can get into a good college with a higher GPA. I'll probably end up taking higher level English and history courses to boost my GPA, but I will be sure to focus on the courses you mentioned. I didn't know I had to have Stats for working with viruses... Or Physics, for that matter...

GydroZMaa In reply to maplelava [2014-05-08 02:55:29 +0000 UTC]

As a bioengineering, you might be working with the probability that a mutation will occur in a select group of bacteria/viruses. There's also knowing the probability diseases will spread or test positive in a population of patients. Physics is a must in any engineering field. Even biologists have a special branch of physics they must take. It's because physics eventually leads towards thermodynamics, optics, and vibrations which are important in the microbiological field of study.

Oh. Uh oh... probability is my weakness in math.
Thermodynamics? I'm not even sure what that means... I have a lot of studying to do. I love optics, though!
