Description Everytime I paint a portrait I lose a friend,
They do not wish to see what it is that I have seen,
The truth,
who they really are.

When they commission me
they desire my brush to paint their flaws away,
That my pigments should cover them like masks,
And hide the truths that they can not endure.

Their hope in vellum facades,
and painted vizards fall hollow when they gaze upon my
compositions.

Murmurs and hushed tones fill the room,
one fallen strap,
ruddy powderless skin,
the lady gasps.

Like all others she despises what she sees,
her true and seductive form,
I have exposed her,
and now she detests me.

Now cast and away,
I paint in solitude,
my parchment visions turning inward,
in a time of guises I show bare, unclothed, naked truth,
discarded and rejected,
for everytime I paint a portrait,
I lose a friend.

I hate people who cant accept the truth. Those who flee from it like rodents and insects.
