GZB ...

Where do you find these beautiful models?

Great shot ... a bit of a dramatic look with Priscilla's left eye obscured by the lock of hair. Additionally, her right eye and partially open mouth add an "expectant" vibe to her. "Is she waiting for something? ... Is she worried? What is she viewing? ... etc."

Good deal.

Peace,

it's simple: Poland is full of beautiful women, i don't need to look for them, they just pop up from behind a tree or bush every now and then

you definitely need a sub, so you could do critiques. finally someone who can say some in-depth things about a photo, instead of "omfg! pretty!" ;]

Dude ...

I need to get on the next flight to Poland.

"I don't need to look for them, they just pop up from behind a tree or bush every now and then" ***

*** The quote above HAS to be one of the best quotes that I've heard all year. Oh man, talk about HUMBLE. I am in tears from laughing so hard. Love it ...

By "sub" I take it to mean "subject" or some type of photo / art moderator critique thing here on Deviant Art? Not sure what you meant. Sorry.

But I *DO* take your kind comments / compliments with gratitude. I am not taught as an artist / nor am I an "art snob" or whatever. I love art: from the classics to underground unconventional artwork. Each piece of art is evocative of the artist and what he or she was looking to convey at the time the piece was being realized ... be that over a span of a few moments, or over a span of years.

It (the final piece) is also a peek within the mind / emotions / constitution of the artist as they were pulling the idea out of the ether and into the concrete world via brush, chisel, canvas, emulsion, photo, etc. etc. etc. ...

Just think of what torments Vincent Van Gogh was going through as he was trying to deal with his schizophrenia. You can *SEE* how intensely he was trying to keep a hold on reality by the amount of paint he used in some of his paintings. To the point of forgoing brushes and just using a palette knife to apply the paint. If you ever get a chance to see some of his work up close, you'll notice this ... the topography of his paintings is akin to a lunar moonscape. Just amazing.

OK, went off on a slight tangent here. Sorry about that.

Gonna scoot here GZB (btw, what is your first name? ... if you don't mind sharing it please ... thanks).

Take care, and best wishes to you and yours.

Brent

sub=subscription. unfortunately unsubscribed people can't neither use the critique gizmo here on dA, nor request critiques while submitting. a pity. (i remember there was a time it was open for everyone, but it seems that somewhere along the way money got ahead of common sense once again)

fortunately, not being taught doesn't equal being uneducated you seem to know your way around art quite well, without formal education in the subject, and that's all that matters. i can't think of any field of knowledge taught to people, that was developed by scholars. there have always been practitioners beforehand. and who taught the first scholar anyway?

i've never had opportunity to see anything else than prints of Van Gogh, but i hope i will someday.

about my first name, it's Radek. Nice to meet you

Radek ...

Gotcha on the subscription thing. Yes, too bad that the extra options (critiquing, etc.) have now become a subscription only ($$$) perk. Bummer. But hey, the site needs to generate revenue in order to keep its presence on the Internet, and as you and I both know, money talks and shit walks.

I appreciate your comment on my knowledge about art or how to read a piece of artwork (be it photograph, painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.), but I am way, way, way down on the list of people who have the ability to do so. I just look at how the image was set up, decide if I enjoy it or not, speak my mind / offer my opinion (be it positve or be it constructive criticism - I don't have time to slander or bash anyone, unless the object in question is in very poor taste or the artist rendered to offend someone or some specific group / idea ... THEN I get pissed). I've seen that here on DA and am not cool with it, but, this site is an across the board open-to-all collective, so of course, just as in life, gotta take the good with the not-so-good.

By all means, I do hope you are able to see a Van Gough up close. As I mentioned in my previous post to you, during his very volatile stages (as he descended into the psychotic delusional stages of his battle with schizophrenia), he really just gobbed the paint on some of his paintings almost like squeezing toothpaste from a tube and painting with it. Heavily layered. A lot of angst in some of those pictures even though they depict very bucolic scenes (meadows, wheatfields, crows in the sky, a forrest of trees, etc.). Just have to have a keen eye to be aware of what to look for.

OK, gonna scoot here.

Peace out to you and yours and I do indeed look forward to viewing more visual magic that you are so apt to create.

Brent
