Personality/Backstory: Dash and Bell were happy with their two sons, even if the boys didn't get along too well. However, they were driven to have another foal when little Blue begged for a younger sibling. Who could say no to that adorable face? And any way, since Stormy wasn't too keen on playing with his little bro, Blue could find a friend in this new kid.
Arizona was a particularly adorable baby. She had big eyes, big ears, and clumsily big hooves. She was actually pretty clumsy throughout most of her childhood due to those large hooves, which she eventually grew into thank goodness. She loved flying as a foal but wasn't that great at it since she just could never seem to properly land or steer herself. Dash and Bell loved her regardless, and her inability to fly straight didn't really seem to bother Arizona.
That was, until she got to flight school. As a young kid, Arizona had been friendly and talkative. But after being bullied in flight school for her poor skills, she began to grow quieter and more introverted. Her parents began to notice this change in their daughter, and they pulled her out of flight school as soon as they realized what was going on. She was signed up for private flying instruction instead, and went to regular school in Ponyville during those years.
Arizona discovered her love of animals while in Ponyville. She learned about different creatures and their habitats while there, and found that she loved the idea of the desert in particular. Arizona came back out of her shell during these years and her self-esteem raised due to all the nice, caring foals she met in Ponyville.
Instead of immediately going into a career after graduating school, Arizona opted to get some higher education. She attended a university to get a license in animal care and biology. After that, Arizona spent her time travelling all across Equestria and even some of the lands beyond. She found herself in the deserts of Saddle Arabia and was fascinated by the life she found in such an extreme environment.
Currently, Arizona explores the world helping animals in need where ever she can find them. She is an advocate for animal rights and is hoping to open up her own animal sanctuary where ponies can visit and learn about the animals.
Relationships:
Arizona is close with both of her parents, but closest with her dad. Dumbbell spoils his little princess and does his best to listen to Arizona's excited rants on a new critter she saw even if he doesn't quite understand. Both of her parents are very proud of her and love to hear about her adventures travelling all across Equestria.
Arizona is actually one of the ponies that Stormy has been willing to open up to. He was very protective of her from the start and was furious when he heard about what was going on in flight school. Arizona doesn't really get her oldest brother sometimes, but he's actually made efforts to reach out to her and that sure is something.
Arizona and Blue used to be pretty close. They practiced flying together, even though she wasn't too good at it. Blue encouraged her nonetheless. Now, both Arizona and Blue are busy with their own lives and they don't see each other as often, but they make sure to catch up whenever they can.
Arizona is good friends with her 'Aunt' Fluttershy and her son, Goldfinch. The three of them love animals, and even though Fluttershy and Goldfinch are much shyer than Arizona, they all get along very well. Sometimes they will all work together on animal rescues and they often get together to share stories and facts.
One of Arizona's Ponyville friends is Autumn Ruby, the daughter of Rarity and Big Mac. Ruby really helped raise Arizona's confidence during her time at the school in Ponyville, and they remained very close even after Arizona returned to Cloudsdale. The two still get together as often as they can to catch up and maybe do a bit of gossiping.
Facts:
- Arizona is the most heavily built of her siblings. She gets this from her dad. This also means that she has a very large wingspan to support her weight.
- Arizona has a pet bearded dragon named Norbert. She found him injured when she was exploring the Brumby Desert and after rehabilitating him, the little dragon refused to leave no matter how many times Arizona tried to release him back into the wild. So Norbert stayed, and Arizona takes him on all of her adventures.
- Although Arizona is no stranger to dust and dirt, she doesn't mind looking pretty now and again. Unlike her mom, Arizona will not run in fear from dresses and makeup. This definitely helps when she has to be presentable while showing off her new discoveries to judgmental old scientists.
- Arizona was definitely the most disciplined in school out of Dash and Bell's kids. She enjoyed most subjects, especially science and history, and she is a real trier. She does her best even if she isn't too fond of a subject or task.
