Description
Kethar means "pure gold". He lives in a Lion King like universe, but some things are different. The lions behave more like real life lions, meaning that young males are exiled from their prides and they must find new prides to take over. Kethar and his younger half brother, Kamau, traveled together once they were exiled from their birth pride. Kethar was bigger and stronger than Kamau (since he was older) but he made the mistake of taking on a lion who was even more powerful than him. Kethar was severely wounded and was just a few inches from the jaws of death when Kamau leapt in to save him. This kind of behavior was practically unheard of. Lucky for Kamau, the stronger lion was already wounded from the fight with Kethar and he was able to defeat him. Kamau was declared the new king of the pride since he was the one to finish the battle. Kethar slowly recovered, but he was never the same. He is blind in his left eye and his jaw is damaged. He has a hard time eating sometimes and his tongue will not stay in his mouth. Kamau took pity on his brother and allowed him to stick around. Kethar became the medicine man for the pride and is quite talented at it.
Kethar is a benevolent soul. Despite being beaten half to death, he is kind and very perceptive to the emotions of others. He is incredibly close with Kamau and knows that he would have died if Kamau had not allowed him to stay in the pride where he has others to hunt for him and protect him. He tries to give back to the pride and most of the lionesses appreciate his company. Kethar is easily spooked and it is not difficult to sneak up on him. He is still very powerful but no longer has the coordination to fight. He has no cubs, but he happily accepts his nieces and nephews as his own. He doesn't like to pick favorites, but if it absolutely came down to that he has a soft spot for an adventurous cub named Jabari . He dreads the day when Jabari will have to leave the pride.
