Personality/Backstory: Tempest Shadow was in a very dark place after the death of Princess Luna. They had been secret lovers for a long while, and Tempest was head over hooves for the princess. While Luna was still alive, Tempest worked alongside her friend, Princess Twilight, to create a spell that would help ponies all across Equestria, and secretly, Tempest and Luna. Tempest and Twilight wrote a spell that would allow a pony to combine the DNA of two ponies to create a foal. This would be ideal for ponies unable to bear foals or same-sex couples who wanted their own foal but weren't too keen on gender-swap spells.
However, disaster struck when Tempest accidentally cast the spell. Her magic was very erratic due to her broken horn and she had only been attempting to read the spell to see if there were any errors. Next thing you know, a fluffy little newborn pegasus colt was sitting on the rug in Tempest's quarters.
She immediately panicked.
Tempest took the foal to Luna who was able to calm the unicorn down. Luna did a test on the tiny colt and determined that Tempest's DNA had gone into the colt. However, the other "parent" was unknown. Luna and Tempest decided to keep the foal and named him Nimbus Shadow. They were planning on becoming public with their relationship very soon. Tempest eventually told Twilight about the mishap, but not about her and Luna's plans.
However, before anything else could happen, Luna and Celestia died in a tragic accident that racked the kingdom of Equestria. Twilight and Cadence took the throne and Tempest fell into a deep depression. After her first encounter with Discord , Tempest's life began to improve. She and Discord slowly fell into what seemed to be a relationship. They began to co-parent each other's children. They even had a daughter of their own, named Andromeda.
Little Nimbus grew up in a very unique family. He had six siblings, all of whom were draconequus/pony hybrids. He often felt he could never compare to his siblings since they were all so strong and powerful and he was just a simple pegasus pony with stunted growth. He wanted so badly to be a Royal Guard, but he was always too weak to do much. Since the spell that created him was accidentally cast, he could never live up to the physical abilities of his mother. Nimbus also had issues with flying since his wings are slightly undersized.
Nimbus has a very interesting special talent, however. Although he cannot fly very well, he is able to perform a type of telepathic magic. He can arrange clouds and create rainbows just like any pegasus pony. He has worked closely with Stratus Storm in the past. They would probably be good friends due to similar personalities, but they rarely see each other. Nimbus found his special talent late in life, and he was overjoyed when he discovered it. It was something different from any other pony's special talent.
Nimbus is a grump and bit of an edgelord. He went through a very dramatic emo phase and never truly grew out of it. He is also quite the smack-talker and loves to challenge ponies, even if deep down he knows he's in way over his head. He acts much more confident than he actually is and sort of struggles with an inferiority complex. He pretends he hates affection, but in all honesty, he just wants to be loved and respected.
Nimbus is technically a prince. He is, like, seventh in line for the throne, but he still had a crown and everything he wears when his family makes public appearances. He doesn't really like being a prince, besides the fact its sort of mandatory that ponies respect him. And anyway, he would probably be a terrible leader.
Relationships:
  Nimbus absolutely adores his mother. As a foal, he wanted to be just like her when he was older: a strong and courageous Royal Guard who never shies away from danger. Though, these dreams were crushed pretty early on. Still, Tempest does her best to keep her son confident and she ensures him that he is special, and that he can make a difference if he really tries. The jury is still out on that one, but Nimbus appreciates everything his mother had done for him. They are both on a quest to find out who Nimbus's other "parent" is. Neither really knows what they will do if and when they find him or her.
Nimbus's relationship with his step-father is... complicated. Affection is there, and Discord would one hundred percent set somepony's head on fire for Nimbus. They're just very different and don't easily get along. At least they respect each other.
Out of all of his siblings, Nimbus gets along the best with Apollo and Andromeda. The both of them are very quiet and respect Nimbus's boundaries. He finds it more difficult to get along with the triplets, Hera, Aphrodite, and Athena, and especially Harmony, who is explosively bubbly and energetic. He butts heads with Athena the most, since she is a Royal Guard and often trains with Tempest.
Nimbus may or may not have a gigantic crush on a particular acrobat, Carnival Bash . They met one year at the Grand Galloping Gala and just can't seem to stay away from each other. Nimbus pretends to be annoyed by Val's cheerful and upbeat personality, but in all honesty, he finds Val to be very sweet and encouraging. And his head totally doesn't explode when Val flexes.
Facts:
  - Nimbus gets flustered incredibly easily. He's the kind of pony who's entire face turns red when he blushes.
  - Nimbus is incredibly short and fluffy, some weird side effects of the way he was... created? I guess that's the right word. He has a lot of extra fuzz and feathers which really don't help him in his efforts to look menacing.
  - Nimbus is secretly a huge fan of manga from the kingdom of Japony. He has a secret stash of manga under his mattress and the only one who knows about it is his sister, Harmony. She loves manga too and it's the only thing they get along over.
  - Nimbus had a really long mane as a teenage colt. Like, really long. So long that he'd often trip over his tail and fall down steps because his mane kept getting in his eyes. Tempest finally was able to convince him to get it cut after he nearly knocked a tooth out.
  - Despite the fact that Nimbus isn't the most physically strong, he does try to exercise often to keep his weight in check. He is very slender under all that fuzz.
