Who in their right mind would wear jeans like that?! Even if it was for one day, but the background makes it look like fall or winter which are COLD seasons! That and it's clearly edited due to the fact that on the tear under the left cheek you can see a distinct line around the edge...

Depends. Outside of photography, it's obvious isn't it? Butts are just sexy.
In photography it depends on how it's taken. A butt can be pictured in very soft, morning sunlight, with a sheer white curtained window in the background letting said sunlight in. And it can incite memories of a forgotten lover, or something that happened recently or whatever. After all butts don't have to be erotic, they can be beautiful just like sex itself. It's a particularly delicate area of the body.
You have photography like this which is obviously sexy, but it's not like... "come get me" sexy, it's just has that sexy look to it. It would've been better if this was zoomed out and we could see her turned towards us with a facial expression, then it could've been better in my opinion. Further looking at it I think if they would've dirtied up her skin, with this color scheme and background they could've had a post-apocalyptic feel to it. Idk. You really have to be able to objectively look for the feelings a picture, of any sorta, can give off. There are many exceptions of course, not everything is art, specially photography. Porn for example isn't art, but Erotica is when it is done correctly.
And let's face it. Everyone has an obsession with butts. No one knows why, all I know is we all like squishy things. lol

Not really in my opinion, but that could be my opinion since I don't really find much "sexy" and I'm female. Haha
Even though you have given a nice explanation for butts in the photography field of art, and I have no problem with it unless it goes way too far or if they were taken in secret without the person knowing (it happens and its absolutely awful)
However I will never understand why people's deviantART galleries are filled completely with butt photos when they could have a wider range of photos, even if they still include models. But its their choice with what they do.

I don't think I've come across a profile with bum photos of people that didn't know... Only thing I can think of is someone with a profile full of cellphone pictures in public or something. And yeah, that's pretty bad.
The reason why there ARE professional profiles with nothing but butt pictures is the same reason there are some that exist that have nothing but breasts. You can say sex sells, or just the fact that they're beautiful to some people and that "some people" happen to be a LOT of people. And, honestly, it doesn't have to be because they're naked, or like this picture close to it. It is not because of anything sexual. As you should know, nakedness doesn't necessarily mean sexual. I can't really explain it, but I view a lot of these types of pictures, but not because of the sex appeal but for me it's something about the curves and textures--There's more to it than that of course, but explaining why completely is really beyond me. I don't understand it myself. Of course then there are the times where I'm looking specifically for sex appeal, but that's usually in real life--you know, checking someone out. But when it comes to photography or modeling, everything about the perspective changes, it's weird.
Some people don't understand this, and therefore think that nudity isn't art, because of that phrase-"sex sells". Which it does, but as I've tried to explain that's not why we feel it's art. So lots of people of course have to lay in with "it's just nudity, it's just porn", or something along those lines. They just don't get it, and they can't help that so I don't blame them at all. It is what it is to the mind and nothing can really change that unless you learn to look at things, any things, objectively. Which is very hard to do in today's society where judgement is passed almost instantaneously.

Seriously? Urban art and the subcultures from which it is spawned have defined our culture time and again throughout recorded history.
I'm not saying you have to like it or approve of it, and you're definately more than entitled to your own opinion, but the fact that you disapprove of it does not disqualify it as art.

Sure, art IS art. But since when was this a website for basically pornography? Almost everyday on the featured page I find flipping pornography and it's getting on my nerves.
KIDS ARE ON THIS WEBSITE. YOUNG CHILDREN. THEY CLICK THE MATURE DRAWINGS, UNCLICK THE WARNINGS, AND SEE THINGS THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE SEEN. THESE POOR KIDS ARE PROBABLY SCARRED FOR LIFE FINDING THIS ON THE HOME PAGE.
People wanna post pornography? Go to a pornography website. Leave DeviantART for the innocent drawings and photos. Don't agree with me? Oh well. It's an opinion so get over it.
