Again, I don't have the full sized image anymore because my old computer died.This shoot was inspired by Countess Elizabeth Bathory. ErzsΓ©bet BΓ‘thory, the "Blood Countess". Killed over 650 of her female servants. Sentenced to life in Castle Csejte where she died alone. One of the origins of the vampire myth.

I've read a book about her before. They say she thought that drinking/bathing in the blood of young girls would keep her young. Creepy.

If you've never read it, there is a book called Quiver by Holly Luhning that gives a partial recount of some of Bathory's work as a murderer. An interesting read, and I can see the connection between her story and your piece. Beautiful!

It wasn't just her female servants, it was also young virgin maidens from the local contryside as well. She was also briefly featured in Diablo II as a quest boss. The boss was titled simply as "The Countess" but one of the key features of this boss was that "and the Countess, who bathed in the blood of a thousand virgins, was thus buried alive..."
Granted the video game Countess is different, but I'm sure that's where the creators drew their inspiration from.
