I have seen the Disgaea games at Gamestop a few times, and I've picked them up a few times...but I never bought them because I just wasn't sure if they were good. (I don't have money to be spending on good rpg games, let-alone horrible ones) No one's been able to give me feedback on them either. XD
As for the anime, I just recently watched the first couple of episodes with english subs. It's pretty cute. -^^- I love the pengies!

The Disgaea games are good; they're more strategy than just fighting.
They can get a bit perverted at times--I just hate that--but their loads of fun
I suggest you buy Disgaea 1 first, then buy the second one.
The anime is based on the first game.

Laharl is pretty awesome...but I don't care for his outfit too much. o_o' The rest of his character design is all right, but the shorts just don't cut it. u_u;
