haven't you seen people who color manga pages DIRECTLY from the manga itself on here??
seriously i don't see a difference from doing that and vectoring.
also, she did link to a reference page, which DOES have a reference link too. (scroll down about where the ad is and it should be a link titled: image used) so this isnt "stolen" work.

*she DID credit where she vectored and that site DID credit where they edited, and DID NOT steal*
*people ALWAYS post colored manga pages that were not vectored and do credit, as this artist did too*
dA mods, if you are reading this.. do not remove this image, i CERTAINLY do not see anything wrong with it. and if you do, then i suggest you look back at some of those colored manga pages that have been posted frequently.

tofubeast i think you need to chillax a bit, if DA thinks it should be deleted then it will. but if you think that every little thing that is being used outside of copyright laws should be deleted or banned then you can say good bye to all the fan subs out there too. as long as she isnt getting any profit out of it i say let her, its a well known image for those you know the show so its not like she is claiming to have created the image used. just chillax. there are thousands of other pics/drawings you could be writing GOOD things about on here, focus on the positive eh?

i have done stuff like that for fan art - were you look and copy and happen to make the art look 10 times better X3
yours is an amazing vector -- so i hate to see the fools who are writing negitive comments =_=

Speaking as someone who HAS done vectors, it's far, far too easy to use livetrace/ snap to the original linework.
Regardless if it's a "vector", she did rip the original artwork and trace right over it.
So no, it's a pretty bad vector. Someone got banned from DA from doing the same exact thing as she did. I'd also like to note that it's extremely disrespectful to the original illustrator to do something like this.

sorry i was just stating an opinon not trying to make arugments -- i usually dont like vectors bec. they look to much like the original artists work
if it looks too much identical then its not a good vector - but as i saw there was a link of someone else who had made a fan art vector and posted it somewhere on the net (are you saying also that the art work they did is a bad thing?) -- i have seen on DA many others who do similar things and or color in manga scans and yet people think thats okay =_=
i can see how you could call it a rip off for taking the lines of an original creators art and the color in, but i have also seen peoples line works to be soooo amazing that its hard to tell whos is whos X3
if you look at something and redraw it (its fan art using the image from the creator to make a fan piece) -- vectors are just too good that most cant tell if someone drew it by hand or not or drew out the lines using a computer program [also what about those who use the pen tool to make lines? is that not good either?]-- i have only one vector art that i did but i dont think it turned out that good -- [link]
as for my view on this piece - again im not trying to be mean or rude =/ if you look closly at this DRRR vector and the original art from the Durarara japanese website - you can see in the lines on the eyes that its slightly different -- or at least thats what i see --- its not excactly identicl line for line -- its got some diffences
now i guess if you want to look at it as being a copy -- i can see how it can appear that way and many fans who lov the creators work might see that as well -- but as for me i just saw it as a really good art piece similar to the original stance - but slightly diffent bec. of the coloring and lines --- but do what you think is right, i dont want to get in the way of anything any further
i dont like making trouble, i just stated what i felt was right, just as you have stated what you feel is right

I'm speaking as someone who has had friends of mine working in the industry and independently ripped off by people, constantly. It's annoying, it's not helpful at all to the original artists, and it's downright insulting.
A trace is a trace. When everyone can tell that it's been traced off the original artwork, especially when held up against the artwork of the other artist, it's horribly obvious.
If her vector work is "soooo amazing", why can't she just do her original vectors instead of tracing off of the original art?
That's akin to painting a painting of the reflection of the moon instead of painting the moon itself.

i dont like it when someone colors in a manga and posts it up either but you cant stop the world X_X
thats why its hard for people in the animation industry bec. theres stuff like this that happens -- i know a friend from Poland who had her art stolen from someone in the US and put it on tshirts to sell online and in store and she couldnt do much on it bec. its a different country to country copyright laws -- and the dude said he had bought a license number -- im not sure what ended up happening but shes been dealing with this stuff a lot bec. shes just too good XD
and that is true its better if they did by hand and then colored in - and i know its frustrating and makes you mad, but sometimes you just got to let things go -- your just gonna end up hurting yourself and giving yourself more stress -- i dont think its right to try and rally up others to your side and hurt the person who made this -- even if you think its not right -- report it and do your thing but you cant really tell others how to do stuff -- the DA will decide what to do about this image -- you have done your everything that you can, now you just have to wait and see what happens
again i am sorry for upseting you - that is not my intention - i hope you feel less stressed and can hapily become an animator or illustrator
