so tell me... how do you manage these photos??

theyre always so amazing. of course proper shutter speed, aperature and ISO and a zoom lens help, but aside from that how do you get these so darn close, crisp and clean?

Well... most of it is just determination to get up to the front. I usually take my monopod to shows so I can get some stability, and I always shoot in B&W at 1600 ISO. I dont like using the flash, but I have been known too (when it is absolutly neccesary).

But mostly, what you dont see, is the 200 other pictures that were crap. I generally take 200 - 300 photos and end up with 10 - 15 good ones. Like all photography... Its all in your determination to get the shot. Thats my story anyway...

Post production... I check the levels, Unsharp mask 3 - 5 times, then Shadow/Highlight to get the highlights/mids/shadows just right. Voila.
