She was born from a single loving mother, a weak witch. Her dad, who her mother refuses to talk about, was a really powerful wizard, so Echo inherited all that magical capacity. However, she was born with a rare disease (that only about one in half a million wizards had). This disease weakened her immune system, which could have made a common flu lead to her death. This tragedy could be avoided by wearing the necklace she had, which offered a really powerful extra protection from diseases, but had to be kept constantly activated with magic. Because of this, Echo cannot use her magical powers the same way as most wizards, making her seem as weak as her mother despite her great ability. Her disease can be easily identified with the characteristic marks it leaves behind.
When Echo was ten, she saved a stray cat out of pity and named her Wicca, and she rapidly became her best friend. Almost a year later, at a moment where Echo deactivated her necklace by mistake, she developed an autoimmune disease and wasn't able to stop it. This caused her to lose her sight, but Wicca gave Echo her own eyes. Due to this, Echo's eyes went from being black (as most wizards'), to a bright yellow with feline characteristics, while Wicca became permanently blind (but still had a stong sense of smell). However, as Echo has Wicca's eyes, the cat can easily create a magical binding that allows her to see through her owner's eyes from time to time.
Seeing the sacrifice her cat made for her, Echo decided to become as strong as she could in terms of magical powers, by training them non stop. She learned to appreciate eveything she had, and did everything she could for Wicca, developing a very strong bond, to the point that her cat knew everything about her.
Echo became quick to judge other people, as she doesn't think they would understand her condition (being a teenager basically). She always thinks that everyone is spoiled at first glance, and that they haven't ever really suffered. Because of this, she doesn't let anyone approach her, so she doesn't have many friends, and her opinion is kept unchanged. Echo became proud and selfish (except towards Wicca and her mom, who was also by her side most of the time); she became a top wizard in her school due to her efforts, and this just strengthened her views. She tends to answer sarcastically when she's in a bad mood, and replies with short words and sentences when not. She won't tolerate any comment regarding her eyes. Wicca and her mother are the only people that Echo would do favours for, or anything that wouldn't benefit herself.
She likes to spend her time either training or with Wicca. It might not look like it, but Echo likes gossiping (mostly complaining about people in her magic school). She doesn't like to do any type of exercise at all, so despite her diet being quite well balanced, she's been gaining some weight (still not overweight though). Sometimes Wicca and her go shopping or to the cinema. She's quite a common teenager in terms of hobbies.

PD: Don't forget that they live in a world where magic is possible, so Wicca has a little bit of magical power which allows her to fully understand wizards and take a human form from time to time. Most cats have this ability, and that's why wizards tend to keep them as pets. I might do a character sheet for Wicca as well, she's cute.
