I tried out realistic backgrounds but they wouldn't fit as good. So I just went with an abstract one. It doesn't look bad, though
I had fun drawing both characters. Like the feathers on Octultus and the scales of Echnaton (pronounced like ek-nah-ton btw)

They're both totally different in anatomy too - Octultus has 3 pairs of limbs whereas Echnaton is a wyvern with 2 pairs of limbs, Octultus looks thin, a bit like a griffin whereas Echnaton is quite heavy, has a thick skin of buldges and horns. So you see, quite opposing types. lol
I also gave Echnaton a completely new (head-)design. His original design had a much shorter neck and different order of horns. (if you were looking for his eyes, I must disappoint - He doesn't have any)
I got the idea for Echnaton when I dreamed about a dragon of which I was riding on (was quite neat actually). I even think that I heard his name in that dream... Later on I sketched first doodles, then used Echnaton in a sci-fiy/fantasy book I used to work on. According to this book, he's a quite intelligent dragon who is able to communicate with life forms using telepathy.
