Description Valerie  rushed across the dirty tile floor to her locker.  She didn't like the hall her locker was in for a variety of reasons- it was too far away from her math class (which was why she had to run every day) and the people in the lockers next to her usually gossiped right in front of her locker, then waited to move until about one minute before the bell.  On a good day, it took three for her to get to class.
So now she was forced to run like a crazy person to beat them to her locker.
Relieved, she got to her locker just before the Locker Blockers emerged from their classroom.  Her friend Piper ran up to her.  "Valerie!  You've gotta see this!  There's a fight going on down on the west wing!"   Valerie frowned, only half paying attention.  "I have to get to Math.  Ugh.  I hate this stupid locker… wait, what?"  Piper drew out every word.  "There's… a…. fight.  In… the…west….wing."  Valerie raised an eyebrow, intrigued.  "Who?"  Piper huffed.  "Just come on!"
Against what she knew she should have probably done, she scooped up her textbook and shut her locker.  "Okay."
They both ran to the west wing as fast as they could.  Valerie's long, sandy colored hair flew about her face, blocking one of her eyes.
"Fight, fight, fight, fight!"  students forming a huge crowd chanted.  "Where's Dr. Grey?"  Valerie asked.  "Shouldn't she come out here to stop-"  she paused when she saw who was fighting.  She'd figured it would have been two girls fighting over a guy or two guys fighting over a girl, but it wasn't either one.
Her two brothers Chase and Toby were fighting.  "Maybe you should stop-" Piper began, but Valerie had already put down her books and was pushing through the crowd.
"Hey!  Guys!  Stop!"  Valerie yelled, dashing to the wrestling duo.  She separated them with her arms, and a few people were astonished at her strength to tear two boys who weighed 20 pounds more than her apart from each other.  They both stopped throwing punches, not wanting to hit Valerie, but glared icily at each other.  Valerie whipped around to face Chase, who was the most logical one of the two.  "What's going on?"
Chase scowled.  "He stole the watch Grandpa gave me!"  Valerie blinked in disbelief.  "So you started hitting him?"  She didn't notice the bell ring or the crowd depart quickly to get to their classes.  The only other person who remained was Piper, who stood, holding both her and Valerie's books.  "You're both hopeless.  Just stay away from each other!"  Valerie growled.  "I can't believe I'm late again because of you two."
She began to walk away.  Just then, Toby spoke.  "I didn't steal your freaking watch!  But I know what I did steal."  Valerie turned just as Piper handed her her stuff.  Chase looked a little confused.  "What?"  Toby smirked.  "Your girlfriend!"
"Wow."  Valerie said.  "You know what?  Let them break each other's necks.  I don't know why I even-"
"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?"  Dr Grey's voice demanded, scaring all four of them.  Piper spoke first.  "They were fighting--"
"And?"  Dr. Grey interrupted.
"And they're fighting over a girl.  I was breaking them apart."  Valerie sounded annoyed.  She was late for Math, and felt a little testy.
"Okay, you two, in my office."  Dr. Grey said.  She turned to Valerie and Piper.  "You two, go to class.  Tell your teachers to call my office if they don't believe you're late for a reason.  Quite honestly, you almost aren't."
Valerie walked off with Piper.  "Are you going to the counselor's office?"  Piper was the Office Aide, so she spent the last hour of the day filing papers for the counselor, helping people, or slacking off and playing games on her Netbook.  "Can I be second Aide today?  I am not sitting through another lecture about being late."  Piper nodded.  "Sure.  But what are you going to do about your brothers?"  Valerie smiled slightly.  "I don't know.  But I wonder when they'll figure out that Mom has Toby's watch."
