Description Just a preliminary sketch I did of my dream car. I would make sweet love to this car, oh god! Semi-sorta gift for as I know he shares my love for automobiles. Gotta love American muscle! A few things are slightly off, which is why I called this a sketch and which is why I'm scrapping this, once I go over it with some illustration paper and a 4B graphite pencil, complete with shading. I'm going fully traditional with this one, baby! Once I ink it, I'm using marker and colored pencil to color it!

Did you ever finished it?

You know, I never did finish this one but I do plan on it! Vehicles seem to be my specialty for some odd reason.

Well, I know it's mine... I love drawing them. I'll eventually draw a proper Cuda myself someday.

Well when I say specialty, I mean it's easy for me to draw them, with little effort. Somehow, even when I'm having an off drawing day, I can still draw a vehicle. IDK. Yeah, they're fun to draw.

I was referring to that as well. Exactly the same here!

Heh... I can only draw boxes if I'm patient enough to measure them and everything... which, unfortunately isn't very often.

Anyway, I saw a few of these not too long ago at a Mecum auction. I love those auctions!

I actually draw mine freehand. I just push the pencil back and forth across the page, very lightly until I get the line I want, then carefully darken that line. I usually just eyeball proportions and such. Most times I just get lucky or stare at the ref long enough to memorize the exact structure.

Oh man, I want one Soooooooo bad!

Thank you!

I'm surprised but you're not the first one to say that. I've heard several artists remark that they can't draw vehicles at all. It's surprising to me because characters are much more difficult, due to anatomy and the various curves of the body, especially in females. Cars are nothing more than perspective. This one actually started out as two boxes in two point perspective piled on top of each other and the details were easy, once I got the body blocked out. Backgrounds are much the same. It took me half the time to draw this that it did the new version of MiniNova, actually.

Wow... but I'm actually pretty bad at drawing boxes, too.

O.o Really?! I honestly never would have guessed! Well, backgrounds are much the same as cars and require a basic understanding of perspective. Since I'm looking to be a comic artist and animator, I need to be able to draw anything

Well then! I recommend Perspective for Comic Book Artists by David Chelsea. It's a great read and it helped me draw in perspective that I never would have dreamed of drawing before reading it!

I understand perspectives well enough. One, two, three point, foreshortening and all that jazz. But drawing the actual BOXES is where I'm not great at XP

That makes no sense whatsoever. O.o Is it the straight lines?

I guess so. I use a ruler, too(of course) but they always end up really kind of screwed up. XP

Hmm. That's odd. I-I don't even know what you would do about that. O.o

You did this partly for me?

Oh, you shouldn't have. XD

You seem to be a bit off with the perspective here (which you did say in the description). Most of the car's body is correct. The front bumper (including the foglamps), front wheel, and hood scoop's perspective needs to be refined and proportioned with the rest of the car.

Nice work on the 'Cuda!

Yeeaayuh I did!

Yeah, those kind of threw me off, since I mostly just eyeballed the perspective, but they're close, for the most part. The front wheel is turned in the ref, which really threw me off because the challenge now is to get the wheels perspective and draw an arc to track it's position. The hood scoop is mostly correct, where the lines get really dark because I kept redrawing it. But yeah, it still needs some refining, which is exactly what it will get in the cleaned up version, which is next!

Thank you, good sir!
