Description

Redraw of Yehoshua bar Yosef based on a famous snap shot from “Passion of the Christ”, for fun and educational purposes!

I have been off and on studying the Judaic culture for roughly about four years so far and despite being a bit shaky at first, I did learn a lot. And on top of learning so much there are a lot of things I was shared that was very relieving.

Like for one example, I know and understand the personas of Pharisees and/or  Sadducees have been obscured by Christian doctrines for ages, but I want to clear the air here. I am going to translate their lifestyle in vanilla as best as possible so do cut me slack a bit:

To start this off, neither of those two were purely evil like your pastors portray. They actually were butting heads with each other in one degree or another, and it was mainly Sadducees that caused the crazy bickering, I’ll explain why in a bit. The Pharisees - historically speaking - were more laid back and spent a lot of time with their communities compared to their more religious counterparts (Sadducees). Now, Sadducees were under more religious and/or political pressure back then, this is the best way I can translate it to the outsider’s ears. They were tough eggs to crack, but not impossible, again pressure.

Pharisees hung around Yehoshua often, but none of their conversations were bitter or bickering, just simple “Can you explain this or that, please?” or “Say in this scenario...”, “What does this passage in the Torah mean?” etc. The only times were it got slightly heated is when the Sadducees began debating like crazy.

That’s just a tiny fifth or twenty-fifth of that part of the Judaic life, but it is enough to clear a lot of misconceptions and I hope this clears the air for anyone else.

I’m not here to paint the Jewish culture as “Messiah” itself. No, I am merely a voice encouraging people to explore and investigate on their own.

Enjoy the mini poster though!

Aye, it's something where everyone believes that one thing is done this way, only to learn that it is actually the other way.
One of the examples I know is the catchphrase of the chesire cat. The catchphrase that everyone believed is this "we're all mad here", but in the film he DOESN'T say that, he says "aw you can't help that, most people are mad here".
Or so I think that's how it goes.

Oh! Okay! So basically saying, “Oh, I learned something new today!” Or “I gladly stand corrected! I never thought of such a thing!” And etc.

Forgive me for my ignorance and sounding a bit like an old timer, but I was raised in late 90’s early 2000’s (to low middle class family that was stuck in the 90s) so a minority of this “Zoomer” terminology either throws me off, flies over my head, or just confuses me . When someone says “Mandala effect” - I’m not joking - I automatically think of Indian/Hindustani style fractals art or Nelson Mandela, and then I ask unto myself, “Wait is that an idiom for “deja vu”? Glitch in the matrix?... or does it have something to do or have a genesis with Mr. Mandela himself?” so that term goes in a completely different direction when it comes to my attention. Yes, I have heard the term before, but it just never computed or made sense to me due to what I was taught in history class growing up.

(To put in perspective I was around to see the evolution of a cellphone from a brick,
to Nokia, to flip phone and finally iPhone. That’s how... young I am ; u ; )

Do forgive me I am sorry for that. Again, a simple “I never knew that” would go a long way, but bleh... enough of my Generation Y Nintendo playing ass!
I must ask out of curiosity, what is it specifically that I presented about Yehoshua that was so foreign or new to you? I’d like to know.

Oh it's ok, I'm born in the 90s myself, 1994 to be precise. The thing is I learned about this once along time ago during a dark time of mine. As for what is new and foriegn about the Messiah (Glory be upon him forever more) is that for along time, I thought the pharacees (I hope I spelled that right, if not I apologize) were against Yeshua because they were part of an older belief and that he was something new they may (to their belief) was false witnessing.
I never even knew that they where also with him during that time, and that they were actually debating, golly that's a whole new concept!!!
Also, I would like to be honest about something;
When I read your webcomic in webtoon about the Yehoshua doubting his purpose, I strangely felt relieved because he knows how it feels to doubt, and I'm not gonna lie, I've felt that way before once. But knowing he felt it too makes me trust him a whole lot more than before.
Thank you for this and everything else!!!

Well yeah, it’s written in the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John that they were interacting quite a bit. Some movies depicted them as bitter, but that’s a misconception; just because a couple of Jews are raising concerns with their voices doesn’t really mean they’re angry. I know because I’ve heard my husband and his community do likewise everyday lol. It’s a very eye opening experience when interacting with Jews especially from the Holy Land, you see so many shades of a grey, so many people from different walks of life and it does crush the unnecessary demonisation or messiah-ship of these people, however you come to better appreciate them in new ways.

Now, going into Yehoshua a little bit, the reason why he (gladly) came off a lot more relatable than previous interpretations is mainly due to understanding where he is coming from. I don’t mean in the perspective of religion or as an icon, but I again stress approaching him as a person and listening to him. I mean think about it: If you did everything you could for everyone to be gifted in more ways than you and to excel better than you could, yet notice they’re not taking it into consideration of that said gift, you would probably wonder what you did wrong but also wish to fix it if possible. It’s a weird concept, but it exposes more of the compassion, will and drive he has even though he’s stuck in this “limbo” or “exiled” like situation. Arguably, if I put him on a chariot in the clouds just to conform to the ways religion says, I’m going to be frank no one can relate to that. However, in this weird, unorthodox situation, so far so good. The proof is in the pudding, and it’s working.

Golly, that EXPLAINS alot!!!!
This really changes my view in things and I can definitely CONFIRM that this is one of the reasons WHY I pray and worship the Lord God Almighty, his son Jesus Christ (Yeshua in Hebrew) and the Holy Spirit in the real way and not the way of religion.
The fact that he went through the same thing as all of us, makes me feel better about my flaws and misgivings. Also I apologize if I'm pronouncing Yehoshua as Yeshua, I'm still learning about all this.

I was hoping it all helps still and encourages others to explore outside their comfort zones.

Agreed, it will most certainly will be done, sometimes to seek truth you must go beyond what you know.
