Description The soft cotton beneath her cheek was such a welcome change against the dirt and leaves of the forest floor. She could feel his heartbeat, calm and even. But she kept her eyes closed, kept her breathing under control. It would be the end of her if Duncan realized she was conscious. She could already hear the relentless teasing from the rest of the campers – especially Heather. Heather just had to dig her claws in at any possible moment. But, after watching Bridget and Geoff curl up together, she decided she'd risk it.
She breathed out slowly. He smelled like cheap cigarettes and cologne, and sweat and dirt from the long, practically sleepless night they'd had out in the forest. But... she liked it. It almost suited him.
She couldn't help it anymore – she gave a soft, contented sigh as she nuzzled against him. She decided to sneak a peek to make sure he was still sleeping, and found herself staring into those green eyes of his.
Duncan smirked. "Morning, Sunshine."
She hesitated. Did she panic, or did she fabricate a story? After a few seconds of feeling his heartbeat against her chest, she decided. She stumbled to her feet, and backed away.
"Ew. You were cuddling me," She accused.
"I was calmly lying on my back, trying to catch a few Zee's. You were snuggling up to me." He retorted, that smirk plastered on his face.
And she knew it was the truth, but she'd die before she admitted it – especially to him. She couldn't help an inward smile as she turned away from the delinquent.
