The antagonist of the first story arc. Selena was a modest human in the demon world, Makai. She met Ryoko during one of her “outings” from the castle and the two became lovers soon. With her relationship with Ryoko, her status raised as well, which made her crave more power. Her lust for power both magical and physical essentially “corrupted” her, eventually turning her into a demoness. Her power grew tremendously and she sought more, such as Ryoko’s overwhelming power. She attack Ryoko for her power but was easily defeated and left the fight with lasting scars such as the one her face. She went into exile to recuperate and gain more magical power from other sources before she went for the princess again. She gained knowledge that Ryoko was going to the human world and Selena knew that this would drain a lot of Ryoko’s power to do so. When Ryoko traveled to the human world, Selena soon after followed her so that she could take advantage of Ryoko’s weakened state and eventually gain her power for her own sinister deeds.
