I myself holding my pencil like this. There is no correct way. The best way to hold a pen/pencil is a stable one and this one is absolutely stable!

hhmm well when my dad was in school, he and other kids where corrected by the teacher to hold it correctly.
so, i don't think that the teahers were such dumb people to correct them, right? i think they know what it right and wrong.
but, ok.

I think it's ok whether it's the right or the wrong way to hold a pen as long as we are comfortable with it and be able to come up with what we want to write or draw. So... peace everyone. Β

Yeah, you did an awesome job once more.
I think you did quite sharp contures. if youd try to differentiate the shading, i believe that you could even increase the depth which you already worked out really well...
to the issue of holding your pen. As a primary school teacher it hurts me to see this hand actually... If you also hold your pen this way if you write, and you feel, that after writing more than half an hour your hand gets a cramp, try to hold your pen like this while writing. I did it myself to correct my holding. at first it is totally weird. I only did it for a few sentences first and went back to my familiar way. then there was a period in which I wrote quite comfortably this way. after that i transfered the relaxed way to my normal way of holding the pencil.
on my scrapbook you can also check out more pictures I took after I saw this picture

about the cramp,it's so true. After spending a long time of sketching i usually have a hard time folding of stretching my fingers cause it's painful.

Ah, then definitely try to make some messy sketches holding the pen this really weird way. In the beginning it will be so weird, that you cannot bare it for more than a couple of minutes At least it was, what happened to me But with some time, you will get to understand, how it works. You may feel, that you loose the control a bit. Writing is not as particular as drawing. The change of holding your pen, even if it is only more relaxed, and the rest stays, might be a great change to the control you have to the pen. But if you are able to sketch without pain in the end, it should be worth the effort. It is going to take quite a time, of course, as all changes do

Lol, great spin on that... Interesting way the hand is holding the pencil though... but I shouldn't say that cuz I hold my pencil in a weird way...

Yay!! Oddballs of holding pencils/pens/whatever else unite!! XD I kinda do this funny thing where my thumb and index finger are like a bird's beak and I pinch the pencil and then tuck my other fingers underneath it.... I hold it in a way that I was taught in preschool but now where I live nobody else seems to hold their pencil like that...
