Description
The Sarazen Castle is named after the people of the Sarazen Republic. The castle belongs to the Ahrouk family who had originally fled North from the Saraz Desert to the area of the Berzal Empire a long time ago. The reason they fled was because they were outed for a great taboo crime. As refugees, they set up a small encampment with the last of their loyal servants along the River Bovors.
To survive, they lived off the land but also provided aid to others crossing the region as the river was used by many as a means of transportation throughout the centre of the empire as well as a road that follows along the valley.
One day, they ended up saving the life of the then emperor of the Berzal Empire who was floating down stream after a battle against a rebellious noble. After saving him, the head of the Ahrouk family went and assassinated the rebellious noble to enact vengeance for the emperor.
Grateful for being saved and killing the rebel, the emperor gifted the Ahrouk family land where they had settled as well as the rebel’s castle which was much smaller at the time than it is now.
Nowadays, the current head of the family, Persha, lives there and has built a modest port on the riverside for sailors and merchants to rest at on the way through as well as built the castle up into a substantial fortress. For that reasons no one knows exactly, but some say she’s preparing for battle and others say she’s hiding something within its walls.
