Ibaraki-Douji (茨木童子): Ibaraki-Douji is a powerful and fearsome oni (ogre-liked creature) and the chief deputy to Shuten-Douji (酒呑童子), the Oni King. His name comes from the name of a city in Osaka, Ibaraki (茨木) and the word 'Douji' means 'child'.

There is a tale of his origin. In one of the legends in Ibaraki City, a child was born after 18 months of pregnancy. The new born child already had teeth and was able to walk by himself instantly. That caused the mother went insane and died. His father blamed him for causing the death of his wife and threw him away in the Kuzugami Forest. Not long, a lady from the town passed the forest and found the child. She decided to raise him since she had no child. She named him 'Ibaraki-Douji', The Child from Ibaraki. Ibaraki-Douji became adult faster than any children and began to work at a barbershop. One day, Ibaraki-Douji accidentally cut a customer's face with a razor. He tried to lick his fingers with stains of blood clean. But after tasting the blood, he became addicted. He began intentionally cut customers at shop and tried to drink blood. The owner of the barbershop was very angry and chased him out of the shop. He felt ashamed and bad about what he did. On the way back to his foster mother's house, he was walking across the bridge, then he saw his reflection on water surface; it wasn't that of human anymore but his face turned completely to an oni's. He was so afraid to show that face to his foster mother, so he fled north to a mountain in Tanba and nobody had ever seen him again. After many years, he met Shuten-Douji and became his loyal servant since then.

Both Shuten-Douji and Ibaraki-Douji caused havoc in Kyoto and cities nearby. Soon Minamoto no Yorimitsu (源頼光) together with his subordinates was sent to exterminate the oni gang at Mt. Oue. Shuten-Douji and the gang were all exterminated in the end. Only Ibaraki-Douji just lost an arm and was able to escape. But he was able to retrieve his arm shortly from Watanabe no Tsuna (渡邊綱) at Rajoumon (羅城門) by disguising himself as a beautiful woman.
