ummm Mark 5 has shields that was released in 2551 from 2525 the Spartans wore Nark 4 which has no shields' most S2s that were still kicking by 2551-2552 got mark 5, mark 6 was released the same year after the fall of reach any Spartan two that survived the fall reach or Operation first strike were equipped with mark 6 except Kelly-087 and possibly grey team

Grey team still had MK. 4 and Daisy never got the upgrade she was slated to get it but got killed just before she was pulled from active duty to get it...it pissed me off that ONI would do that but they did that to quite a few S2's...

the mark 5 was realised in 2551 Spartan daisy-023 died somewhere between 2525-2531, 20 years before mark 5 was even prototyped
Grey team wasn't likely to get mark 5 because they operate far behind enemy lines that's why they weren't at reach when it fell

Yeah the thing is they had the prototype long before then...but "it wasn't effective enough" so they pushed it back...
Grey Team was MAI anyways they were never slated for the new armor

its MIA
In 2542 , seventeen years after the MJOLNIR Mark IV entered military service, production began on the next generation of MJOLNIR Armor, in order to improve SPARTAN-II/MJOLNIR effectiveness against the Covenant in combat. A team under the leadership of Chief Technical Officer Dr. Catherine Halsey would spend the next ten years developing the suit. Using data collected from the Mark IV , hundreds of minor technical improvements were made to the Mark V, the suit's armor plating underwent a total redesign and better materials were developed for its use. Separating the Mark V from the previous version of the system are two major breakthroughs in the ways in which the suit improves its wearer's combat effectiveness
The MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark V was the fifth of seven versions of the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor. The suit was issued to the members of Noble Team on November 24, 2551 and to the remaining SPARTAN-II Commandos on August 29, 2552 and was in service until October, 2552, when it was replaced by the Mark VI.

true and not true (Sorry meant MIA been a little preoccupied today) Official complete prototype was the MK. 5 but there was a prototype shield attachment to the MK. 4 which was field tested by 8 different Spartans but it failed each time so they tried to integrate it into a new armor.

Yes and no the shield was more of a magnetic repulsive layer than the hard light shields that the Spartans use...

It's hardened Energy in the form of light. The Spartan Shields are made from a Jackals arm Shield which was hard light but a very crude version...remember light is a form of energy

Worn on the forearm of the user, the gauntlet creates a plasma barrier contained within a magnetic field, much like the Sangheili Energy Sword .

This episode made me wonder whether or not humanity was better or worse than the covenant. Ack, Desperation and fear makes people do such despicable things - even to children.

Being a Spartan is a one-way trip, no amount of mental fortitude would leave them completely unscathed by their circumstance.

Sacrificing our morality defeats the purpose of our survival, we believe we deserve to continue existance and then do things that would make most people question the righteousness of such a cause. Neither side has any real claim to a purposeful victory. I do realise that atrocities do happen, doesn't mean we shouldn't avoid them simply because of this fact. Not to mention that for governmental stability that the sacrifices of the Spartans, their full names, their places of death, who they were - like so many other soldiers - will not be remembered. Most soldiers however, have family that will remember them, friends, Spartans do not have these luxuries, their only friends are other spartans who will also die alongside them, their family thinks they died a pitiful death (due to the instability of flash cloning).
Spartans just seem to be tragic heroes who would've had every right in my mind to desert or turn their guns around, if I ever have children such a thought would be unbelievably painful and scary.

Because Mjolnir mod.IV shields sucks (This was, supposedly, 25(+/-) years before Halo: Combat Evolved took place). Her armor predates Chief's and Noble 6's armor, at least by what Halopedia said.

Even if she didn't have a shield, their armor is designed specifically to take hits from covenant weapons, not to mention a spartan's superhuman hardiness. It sucks that she died, but if she got killed like that for that reason (daydreaming) then she probably wasn't cut out to be a spartan. Really though, too much angst.

You're most probably right...
However, i never saw a Spartan Helmet crushed - only ODST-Helmets ;3
But i wonder. How in the Hell should someone think that they have a Shield, when the Shield never get shown up in Battle? ^^
The Grunts all got killed without firing a single Blast... xD
