Description Models: The oh so glamourous Steve and Lisa (how hot are they?)

There is so much I could say about this shoot and will say as I post more. Steve and Lisa absolutely glowed and it was such alot of fun.

Alot of you know how nervous I've been about photographing men (Steve is only the second man to have posed for me and the first to have not been in drag whilst posing) but I think I got it pretty well.

A big thanks has to go to ~simma who's sleep-in I interrupted this morning to steal a cigarette for this shot. The conversation went as follows:
Simma: You owe me one very good dream!
Halohid: You can have mine from last night! I dreamed that Australia introduced a law which said you couldn't own more than 3 camels so all these camel ride companies had to register as lots of small companies so they could own enough camels!
Simma: That is ten kinds of odd.

More to come from this shoot, guys.

Was this taken late in the afternoon? I love the fact that there are no shadows here, the clouds usually help towards that direction.
It must have been so much fun! I like how the outfits and poses are totally out of place, being at the beach.

Poses remind me of animals when flirting, it is usually the male that does something difficult or spectacular to impress the female and she usually pretends to be unimpressed, at first. Here it's the opposite but there is similarity I think.

Another thing I noticed is the surface of the water, ripples where there is mobility (Lisa) and is calm where there is immobility. Minor maybe, but it adds to the overall result.

Interesting shot Well done!

you, my friend, are one very interesting character.

If I were you, I'd treat that as the compliment it is intended to be!

HIGHFIVE!!!!!!!!!

and (although it feels really odd to be in the air of a winter storm and sending this wish to someone who could be sunburning on a beach in 95+ F degree weather)...
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS, Fleur! (and company)..

Thankyou possum but you wouldn't find me sunburning. I value my skin.

I hope that you also have a lovely Christmas and holiday season. Take care!

Good Girl!

so, how did I do on the temperature (I haven't cheated and looked on-line) - did I come even close?

I'm not too good at strange American ways of measuring temperature but I think it is a bit below that today. Maybe 85? But it certainly gets mighty hot here. The worst is trying to rig theatre lanterns in 40 + F. 15 meters up in the rigging it can be anything up to 55 F on the worst days and you really don't want to pass out when you are that high up and working with thousands of dollars worth of electrical equipment. We set up little fans in the roof to point directly at operators if we have to be there for a fair while like when operating a spot for a whole show.

ya know...except for the heat (air + lamps), I'd probably have fun. I spent time in highschool doing the theater lighting. A couple years ago, at a gig for a SF Bay Area band I'm fond of (google "tempest music") not far from here, someone had brought a couple of light trees plus lights. I actually got to pitch-in, and set them up. The lighting was one little bit of my contribution to the multi-band gig I served as stage manager (well, one of them) - after having to get a little creative insuring they wouldn't pop a couple circuit breakers (we only had about 3,000 watts available, and each of the lights was 1,000... so much for six lights on each of the tweo side-of-stage trees!).

I still enjoy seeing pics that use the cool vs warm thetrical lighting. I guess there's still some of that stage hand running through my veins.

I love the underlying message here!

Well executed shot! The only thing I can add is, personally I think there might be just a little too much space between them? If they were a little closer, the tighter framing of the image would give it a little more impact? Not too close though because I think the message would be lost... Don't take this the wrong way; It's just my opinion and it's still great as it is!

I'm guessing the camels would have to be micro chipped?

No, I thought that too actually. I consided trying to move them closer with photoshop but figured I'd probaly do a bad job of it so decided to leave it as is but it's certainly something I'll look at next time.

Thankyou!

Wonderful shot, fabulous concept and very well taken - that's hard to capture a jump so clearly, take many attempts?

Well done!! Jeff

We did quite a few but mostly so that I had a few options to choose from. I find the D200 really good for dance shots. There's absolutely no lag between pressing the shutter and the image being taken. On the D70s there always felt like there was a little lag. Also I had it in rapid fire mode so that I could get every stage of the jump. Also I'm pretty good at dance photography by now.

i love this photo fleur! it is about 10 different kinds of gorgeous and fantastic....i love the fact that you have captured lisa in mid air, complete with sand flying from when she took off.
