Well, it's not like just pushing a button. You tell the program what formulas to use. You manipulate the variables of the formulas. You add and subtract formulas and change the order in which they are executed. You have to learn what formulas work well together and have a basic idea what they do. You have to recognize interesting aspects of shapes, point of view, depth etc. Not to mention colors and shading, shadows and fog etc. So while it is computer generated, you'll not get good results by accident as a rule, although it is possible.

It's like any other program, once you use it a while it's not so bad. I worked with the program on and off all day. Maybe 5 hours total. This piece has around 10 versions that I saved. This one is around the 6th version I think. Took around 45 minutes to render.
