Wow, Hal, this is really nice. A very metallic feel to it. I haven't tried the dc coloring yet. My Apo v14 doesn't always show up the preview thumbs in the file list or in the Editor and Adjustment windows. It makes it very difficult to tweak or change. I have to wait for it to render in the main window and see if it looks decent. So, I use Apo v12, but I can't use dc coloring in that version. But, I really, really like this! Lovely work, Hal!

Thanks Peggi. Every once in a while the flame doesn't show up in my editor window as well, but it doesn't happen often. (I normally don't use preview thumbs unless I am looking over old flame files) This may be something you may want to inform =Xyrus02 about as a bug.

I have contacted =Xyrus02 about it. He suggested a couple of things, but none of them worked. I wouldn't mind if it was just the preview thumbs in the file list that didn't show, but it's having no images in the Editor and Adjustment windows that make it very difficult. I noticed it particularly with some flamepacks - one of which is Puff 'n' Stuff. Makes it tough to pick an image to tweak if you can't see what you're working with or doing.

Ok, I did some more looking into this problem and I believe it is definitely a plugin issue. I was playing around generating some random flames. As you know, you can choose the plugins (variations) used in random flames by going into the options and clicking the variations tab. There you can set the random flame to use whatever variations you have selected. (check marked) I had selected a few variations: dc_linear, dc_triangle, crop, pre_blur, linear and Spherical3D. I generated 25 flames with 5 xforms in each flame. About half of the flames didn't show in the editor window. When the flame didn't show in the editor window, I started to delete each instance of the Spherical 3D variation. Sometimes there was only one instance and each time I deleted it the flame showed in the editor window. Sometimes there were two or more instances of spherical3D in different xforms. Deleting all the instances will make the flame appear in the editor window, but probably only one of the instances is causing the problem. I went back into the options setting and de-selected spherical 3D, generated another batch and every flame showed in the editor window. This tells me it is a plugin issue. I don't know how you installed the 7.14 version but when I installed it, it created a whole new Apo folder. I then added various other plugins I had into that folder. I haven't had many issues other than ripple.dll will not load. To make a long story short, I think if you're careful with what plugins you use and don't just generate random flames with all the plugins selected, you should be able to get it to work! Good luck and let me know if this works!

This is so odd. I hadn't had the problem of flames not showing up in the editor window until you mentioned it today! I did find one thing that will make it appear a good portion of the time, but it slows things down as well. If you use the zoom function to zoom in, often the flame will appear. Depending on the flame, I found that it appears anywhere between .5 and 2 of zoom. (Not scale! Zoom!) Obviously zoom slows things down though... That info may give =Xyrus02 a hint as to the bug causing this... It's probably some sort of video card issue.

Thanks for that input, Hal. I will play around with it and see if that works for me. I have Apo 7X v14 open now and it seems to be working fine. It may have something to do with the number of flames in the flame file you bring in. It seems the more there are, the better the chance that they will not show up in the Editor or Adjustment windows. But, I'll try your tip and see what happens.

Cool. I just posted another message with further info that I believe is the real problem. It's a plugin issue I think.
