The only god you can say is 'good'

My view of Mantorok was always that it is willing to work with others towards their mutual benefit, yet will also readily work against anything that threatens to cause a dramatic change or shift in the universe. In the game, Mantorok is The Corpse God, so I can only assume that Mantorok feeds on death and things like that; yet it was also viewed as a fertility god by the Cambodian tribes that worshipped it, meaning it has the power to give, or at least strengthen and preserve, life. I can easily see Mantorok working together with mankind, using its powers to increase their population numbers and help ensure their survival, in exchange for 'sustenance' like disease-infected crops and bodies of the dead; both humanity's and humanity's enemies. As a result, both would grow stronger; and Mantorok is already pretty damn strong considering it could keep back three ancient entities trying to destroy each other and conquer the universe, and even after being sealed could manipulate events so it could collapse multiple timelines into one resulting in those three entities being removed from existence (that's the ending you get if you play and beat EDSR three times picking a different entity each time).Β

Because of all that, I see Mantorok as a more neural entity than anything else; along with a great ally to have by your side.Β

Pretty sure Mantorok was loosely based off Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos...or so I would imagine.

I think his looks are based off a Shoggoth and/or Yog'sothoth. To me Pious' way of manipulating and interacting with humans, while posing as one gives me much stronger Nyarlathotep vibes.

There really isn't enough fanart for such an amazing game. Mantorok has never looked better, and you did a good job with attention to detail by including the statue in Mantorok's chamber.

Yeah, there really isn't enough fanart for ED. But nice to hear you like this one, thanks
