Description Warhammer 40K fanart of an Executioners Vanguard Veteran Sergeant equipped with a customized relic Mark III 'Iron' Pattern Power Armour, and armed with a Power Axe and Boarding Shield.

Character Biography:

Vanguard Veteran Sergeant Luxias Velhald is a member of the Executioners Chapter's Vanguard Veteran Squad of the 2nd Company during the Badab War. According to the historical accounts of the Executioners, Vanguard Veteran Sergeant Velhald is considered by his brothers as a warrior showing no mercy towards to his foes whether they were xenos, heretics, or traitors and earned a tally of kills during the field of battle. In 872.M41, the 2nd Company of the Executioners Chapter were dispatched onto the Feudal World of Victabid VII which was under attack from a Chaos Warband known as the "Writhing Subjugators" led by a Chaos Champion named Skoradhen. Although this warband faced by the 2nd Company were merely comprised of traitor guardsmen and cultists as well as few Heretic Astartes amongst its ranks, the Executioners easily decimated them at ease and Vanguard Veteran Sergeant Velhald was given with the honour of slaying Skoradhen in single combat and taking his skull as a trophy.

27 years later, in 899.M41, Vanguard Veteran Sergeant Velhald took part in the Battle of Carrion Deep around 899.M41 where the 2nd Company under High Chaplain Thulsa Kane's command were ambushed by the nightmarish metallic xenos known as the Necrons. As the nightmarish, metallc xenos appear to be more deadly similar to the xenos that invaded the Executioners' fortress-monastery of Darkenvault back in M39, Vanguard Veteran Sergeant Velhald lost two of his Vanguard Brothers from Necrons' deadly gauss weaponry but nevertheless, he and his remaining squad fought valiantly against the xenos until they have regrouped with the rest of the 2nd Company to enact a counter-assault in order to break free from the ambush laid by their nightmarish foes.

As the Badab War broke out, the Executioners sided with the Astral Claws and the Secessionists against the Imperium due to a blood debt they owed with the Astral Claws back in the 39th Millennium. By the time in 904.M41, there are no records if the Vanguard Veteran Squad under Veteran Sergeant Velhald's command were part of the Khymara Pursuit Force commanded by Warlord Belloch but it is speculated that they have joined them or they remained aboard the 'Night Hag' on stand-by and await further orders.

Sometime afterwards, in 911.M41, Veteran Sergeant Velhald and his brothers accompanied High Chaplain Thulsa Kane as they boarded the Battle Barge, 'Pyre of Glory', after the Executioners and Salamanders agreed with each other for a ceasefire. While the negotiations between the two Chapters were still underway, a boarding party from the Astral Claws led by Arch-Centurion Carnac Commodus raided the 'Pyre of Glory' and began slaughtering the surrendering Salamanders as well as pillaging their gene-seed for their misdeeds. Upon hearing this treachery committed by their former allies, Veteran Sergeant Velhald stood with his brothers in shielding the Salamanders from the treacherous Astral Claws' attacks, and he furiously charged at the Astral Claws' Retaliators and slain them merciless as well as its Chapter serfs and servitors aboard the Strike Cruiser, 'Hycarnia', then taking their skulls as a sign of regret for siding with the Secessionists in the war.

As the Badab War had come to a close, Veteran Sergeant Velhald so too partook with his Chapter in their hundred-year penitent Crusade after the High Lords of Terra granted them the Emperor's Forgiveness for their mistake in siding with Lufgt Huron during the conflict. His fate during the penitent Crusade remains unknown but it is most likely he survived in several battles such as the purging of a dozen cults from the Telamon Cloud and three minor xenos species infesting the Garya Rifts, and the decimation of the forces of Chaos consisting of three Traitor Legion warbands and one Traitor Titan Legion deep within the Galactic Core.

As depicted above, Vanguard Veteran Sergeant Luxias Velhald is equipped with a relic late production type Mark III 'Iron' Pattern Power Armour. In addition, the armour was applied with molecular bonds seen on the shin guards and left pauldron to hold additional plating for increased protection, and the helmet was derived from the Mark VII 'Aquila' Armour which was given with a Mark III-esque faceplate modification in order to deflect shots to the left and right. On the other hand, he carries a Power Axe and a Boarding Shield as his weapons for close combat and holsters a relic Volkite Serpenta as a backup weapon for range combat.

Notes: The skulls and grizzly fetishes onto Veteran Sergeant Velhald's armour and Boarding Shield were as follows: one on the right pauldron was taken from the slain Chaos Champion Skoradhen; while the rest were taken from the Astral Claws' Retaliator Squads and presumably Chapter Serfs during the "Red Hour". Additionally, he took the helmet of a slain Retaliator Veteran during the aforementioned event but it would be lost and being damaged beyond repair during the Executioners' penitent crusade. Lastly, the blood splats indicate the tally of kills he earned.
