Description
This is technically mixed-medium, because the white flecks are acrylic paint and the smallest branches are pen. But it's hardly anything in the piece, so I consider it watercolor. I'll still tag it as mixed-medium like a clout hog, though! XD

My art class gives me access to all of these interesting physical mediums that I never had over quarantine. I remember giving up on watercolors and markers at a young age because I didn't have the right paper for them. I wish that I started learning how to use those mediums earlier, because the effects that people can achieve with watercolors and markers are remarkable (pun unintended!) and I admire those who use them well. I started messing around with my school's nice markers and marker board, so I'll post the results of that experiment whenever it's finished. I really should get around to watching tutorials on using markers, watercolors, and acrylic paint so that I can improve. I can't just keep messing around by myself in a closed bubble, because then I'll stagnate.

I started playing Slime Rancher recently and I really love it! The gameplay loop is really fun, and I like how organically the game teaches you its mechanics. But even though I'm glad to play a great game and work through my backlog, I'm worried that if I use too much of my free time playing games, I won't get around to improving my art skills. I don't want to think of art as a chore, but if I don't do it often and regularly my skills will stagnate and decline. Soon I'll seriously follow a digital painting tutorial with the focus of improving my shading and understanding of light and value!

(I was walking through an art museum recently and became inspired by the art. If those old fucks from the sixteen-hundreds or whatever could paint so well back then, I can learn to paint that well too!)
