I just ran a yokai art contest at the high school. It was fun there were a few I didn't know and I allowed the students to make up their own which was great. So it was excellent to see yours although very few of my students are up to your level of sophistication.

I work in Japan so we did Yokai and Western Monster theme for Halloween. Most of my students picked Yokai because I drew like 20 of them for examples. Although I also drew a lot of western monsters also.
I have to say modern classic western monsters totally hard to find well known female monsters. Where as asian monsters are quite heavily littered with them. Have you ever seen the movie 'Yokai Attack'?

It did well here in Japan and I think the western title is like 'The Great Yokai War'. The creator wanted it to be as big as Harry Potter but then the company made the Movie Gamera,(incidently my favorite of all the big monsters) and it royally bombed. So they couldn't make more of the Yokai Wars but it is an interesting watch all kinds of Yokai can be seen. I personally like the manga Nubei Sensei. However, lately I have been trying to collect African ghosts and ghouls and draw them.

Yes he is. I loved the series so much I read all the manga. They are talking about rebooting it again so I am waiting. However, since I got here I have seen a lot of very good Yokai illustrations.

Argh, I have been informed by better otaku than me that they put it on the shelf in favor of Izuna the Spiritual Medium. Oh, well I just hope not to far back on the shelf.
