So, it's been a while since I've done this design. This time I'm using vintage kimono fabric (Right), and kimono fabric samplers (the bit they keep at kimono shops in Japan to show you the pattern). This means I won't be able to remake these designs...they'll be one of a kind. that's the fun part about using kimono silk!

Another thing about kimono silk-- there is so much detail. The pattern spreads all across the fabric, so it makes for a uniquely patterned flower. The effect isn't organic, like some of my hand dyed pieces, but uniquely interesting....it reminds me of Van Gogh's Ukiyo E (浮世絵 in oil painting!! What a fun combination).

So, yes, those of you watching my journals, etc-- it looks like the book project will continue on the linked website for the time being. We're regrouping to see how to continue from here; more info as I have it! I'll update a journal entry every now and again to keep you updated-- but for now, just keep an eye out. And know that we're not giving up!!
