Ant had given mottlestone and purella a small smile before he declined their invitaton to visit Semmy. He told them he had herbs back home he could use. They all knew he was lying but didn't speak up otherwise, leaving the loner to his devices. While he tried to play it cool, Ant couldn't help the fervent itch that crawled under his skin, even as he strayed farther and farther away from Lynxclan territory. Anxiety and insecurities were muddied by adrenaline but as the waves of battle subsided, he was left alone with his thoughts.

Mottlestone and Purella seemed somehwhat proud of their win, but Ant disagreed. The blood on his paws belonged to an apprentice he barely bothered to remember the name of, when it should've been beetlestar's. The fool had rushed in the way and while Ant didn't regret his actions, he knew he had failed. Some young tom had been twisted by Beetlestar into some horrible puppet, willing to lay down his life for the leader. It was disgusting and the thought of it made him want to retch. Despite all these thoughts racing about Bearpaw and Beetlestar though, Ant found himself more concerned about something else.

During his last battle, The Elder God had protected him, kept him safe, and guided his claws when he needed it. Only now, Ant felt hollow and void of his love. Had he not prayed enough? Had he made some mistake? Ant knew in his heart that leaving the clans was the right choice, freeing himself from that toxifying sickness and infected mindset. Though he couldnt help but notice his God and fellow Brother Arhchibald had grown quiet since his departure. While it was the right choice for himself, was it perhaps against their wishes? Ant continued walking, far far from the site of the battle and to familiar faraway peaks. A place he only distantly remembered but his paws moved on their own. He had been here once before, guided by his god to free him of danger. He remembered this peak fondly, being a place he realised how all powerful his god was and truly worthy of his devotion The Elder One was.

From the peak, Ant looked out to the sky and called out. "Great Elder One, I have come to ask for guidance..." he began, trying to keep a waver from his voice, to sound more put together than he really was "I have felt your presence waning, and while i would never doubt your love, the love in your embrace, I find myself wondering if I have made a grave mistake. Have I forsaken you in some way? Have I made myself unworthy of your embrace? Its been nearly four seasons since I first devoted myself to you, but I do not quite know what my purpose is." He looked down at his paws and to the sheer drop below before closing his eyes. "Great Elder God, I ask for your guidance. How can I become worthy of your love? How can I better devote myself to you?"

Ant opened his eyes once more, looking to the sky and perking up his ears, listening for a response in the soundless night.
