Description Explanation (I am suck at explaining.......):

The circle is the wheel of life, which shows the 6 realms of life where all life forms are being reborn and reborn again, bound by their own karma. all life forms here experience suffering/unhappiness/unsatisfactoriness, and Buddha teaches us how to be free from such vicious circle.

The person standing right next to it is Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, one of the major Bodhisattvas in Buddhism. A Bodhisattva is someone who, motivated by great compassion, has generated bodhicitta, which is a spontaneous wish to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings. Her name means "Lord who looks down", and she embodies the compassion of all Buddhas.

The text in the background is Prajñāpāramitā Hṛdaya sutra, in which Avalokitesvara is the "main actor". That sutra describes the occasion when she was in deep contemplation, and saw that every phenomena in this Univserse is "empty" (sunyata). This doesn't mean nihilism, but means that every phenomena (including our life) comes and goes, like the bubbles in boiling water. By not clinging to them and delusionally thinking that they are permanent, we are liberated from our suffering. The sutra is ended by a hope, an expectation, for all beings to reach enlightenment:

gate gate pāragate pārasaṃgate bodhi svāhā

which means "gone gone, gone beyond, gone altogether beyond (to reach enlightenment), O what an awakening, all hail!"

enjoy! I hope my picture and the explanation are beneficial for you

This is just excellent.

I had an alter once, populated with various gods and goddesses. I had the idea of creating personal pantheons, but I don't have the necessary skills. You, however. maybe you could do commission. Anyway, thought I'd pass the idea along since I won't be using it.

wow, thanx for your appreciation. and about comission, I think I don't have enough skill nor time to do that .

Yes, time is like that. As for the skill, you are much too modest (not a bad thing, of course).

On another note, my book, All That Is: 81 Meditations Inspired by the Tao Te Ching will soon be out, and perhaps I could at some point in the future entice to do a guest post on the blog I'll be using to promote it ([link] ). What I have up there now are my photos, but you be free to do as you wished, with full credit and links back to your site, etc. No need to decide soon, but I do hope you'll consider it.

Once I've posted photos connected to all of the 81 chapters of my book, I may post some of your art as a discussion prompt (with full credit and links, of course), but I'd also like to invite you to create art inspired by All That Is: 81 Meditations Inspired by the Tao Te Ching, if you are so inclined. It'll be out very soon as an e-book and I'll be happy to send you a copy (I plan to give it away to my friends). And if it, I'll send you a copy.

of course, use my pictures for whatever you want (with credits) . I am glad that I could help.

And the book "All That Is: 81 Meditations Inspired by the Tao Te Ching", is it your book? I mean, you are the author? Anyway, please send it to me . Sounds interesting

I'm sure I'll be using your art once the blog starts to get some traffic, with all due links and credits, of course.

Yes, I'm the author, though it is based on the Tao Te Ching. I'm releasing it September first, and it will be offered for free download for those first few days. If you on facebook, you can get updates there. Here's a link to the book's page. [link]

Shikin haramitsu dai komyo! may we reach the far shore! - the Japanes Haramistu is the same as the Sanskrit paramita which is literally' the far shore' or enlightenment.
