I just wanted to show you this, it's my way of working on enviroments and backgrounds. I happen to love drawing detailed stuff and backgrounds so I decided to scan this one panel from this comic [link] when I was still working on it. I used about half a day drawing this, but I didn't really draw it so intensely, I actually made some noodles and talked in msn messenger... And stuff. XDBut yeah, you can see where I have my vanishing point (is that the right word) and how I really don't bother using the ruler... I used it like, two or three times, but it's too troublesome to use all the time, so I just improvise. And you can also see how I just add more and more stuff because that's what I love to do the most. It's just too bad that this kind of pictures don't really work so well in most of the comics, because the BG would take all the attention from the characters. BUT in this case the comic is about this guys horrible room, so I can draw as much BG as I want. <3
Done with pencil and pigment ink markers. In hours, this must have taken something like 6-7 hours...? But I didn't really count the time.

Mä löysin neljä pärvelöä, onks niitä kuvas enempää? Yhyy, vähänkö haluaisin kans duunaa tollasii ympäristöi. Pikkusälä ny viel menis mut raaaaah perspektiivin kanssa säätäminen. En oo mikään hyvä taustojen, talojen ja huoneiden kans. You are sooooo goood!

En iteasias muista monta niitä oli kun mä teen tollasia yksityiskohtahommia ihan niinku jossain pilvessä. Sillee melkein meditoiden. Niin en itekkää oikein tiä missä siä on mitäki, esim. en pysty muistaan monta pärvelöä oon sinne tunkenu 8D;; Mut tollasiin tarvii kyl sen tietyn rauhallisen mentaliteetin et pystyy tekeen. Kiireellä tulee huonoo jälkee.

OU MAI GAAAD. Miten rumat verhot. Miten on ees mahdollista piirtää noin paljon yksityiskohtia mitäää. Tää on hauska kun voi vaan kattoo et jahas onpas paljon kamaa ja sotkua ja se näyttää hienolta, mut jos haluaa niin voi jäädä tsiikailemaan ja sielt löytyykin ihan törkeesti yksityiskohtaa, melkeen enemmän kun aluks edes olettais vaikka heti päällehyökyvä yksityiskohtien määrä on huima <3 Ja sit sitä vaan tuijottaa ikuisuuksia ja ihmettelee lian määrää. Sil on pienii hassuja kitaroita ja pärvelö lattialla haha.

Siä on iteasiassa aika montaki piilotettua pärvelöä. Ne on alkanu pesiä ton paskan seassa sen huoneessa. Syö jotain hometta nurkista ja silleen XD

Holy shit dude, DETAILS. 80 It's like one of those "can you find all these items from the picture" images, wish I was as patient as you with backgrounds... Also, love the way you ink and change the width of lines, even full images like this are easy on the eye <3

Oh god, thank you. That was a nice thing to hear 'cause I always worry if people will find it too hard for the eyes to see all the details. I want it to be a bit confusing, but not too much, so I make some of the lines a bit thicker. XD
But you know... I'll never be this patient with colouring, because I don't like colouring that much. I'm patient with this only because I happen to love drawing details like this XD

Yeah, there's always the risk of confusing the reader with detailed backgrounds, but I've never had that problem with your drawings, you balance the thickness of lines so well. : D Besides it's awesome to see someone actually spend time and effort on backgrounds as it's the part people usually spend the least time on, so you get extra points for actually giving a damn about them. (ﾟ∇^d)

Haha, well it is true that the BG of the first panel took me more time that the rest of the page with its BG's and characters and all of that XD

Oh, thank you. I really loved those "Where's Waldo"-kind of books when I was small, and there's this amazing children'd book writer and artis Mauri Kunnas in Finland and he always hid small details in his work... So I just love drawing things that you can look at for ages. So I'm really happy that you say you find this picture interesting to look at <3

He's got only 2 real guitars and 2 guitar hero guitars... That's not much ;___; Actually my friends who play guitar all have at least 4 guitars, don't ask me why, but they do XD Maybe they produce different kind of sound or something? XD
And he has to have a lot of pants, if he didn't, he'd have to like.... wash then once in a while O.o That'd be horrible XD

... although I really don't think anyone with only two guitars would get ones that similar. I wouldn't. (Perhaps my fourth will be the same model as the first. Or fifth.)
