Description IF YOU WANT TO PUT THIS ON TUMBLR PLEASE REBLOG THIS FROM MY ACCOUNT HERE .

This is a mermaid who can change into a human for a short amount of time. To do that, she must get permission from one of the ocean's fish, by way of a kiss. However, the fish love her too much to let her go, even for a short while. Only the Flying Fish understands her desire, because he sees the world as he flies out of the water, even if it's only for a brief second, and he thinks it's beautiful, so he always grants her a kiss so she can change

I love the concept "she must kiss a fish to change into a human" ! And moreover, I find it so clever to have included the Flying Fish to this concept ! The drawing is also very well executed : the water and her hair are wonderful, I also love how your smoothly transformed her legs into a fish tail, or her fish tail into legs, and finally all the fishes and water creatures are very realistic ! Grat job !

That's very true - I'm an idiot. But at the same time, I want people to enjoy the fullview. It's a shame I would have to take that away just because a small minority are art thieves.

I love the womanly outline combined with the stylized coloring, it reveals and conceals her all at once. Abstract, yet human and corporeal all at once. I really dig this.

What a lovely story. It has such depth and creativity! It's nearly impossible to believe that one could be imprisoned by the sea (and hate it), and yet she clearly longs to be on land. Love is so powerful <3 thanks for reminding me of that

iamymai [2011-03-14 05:33:19 +0000 UTC]

I have to say, at first glance I thought this would be nice-not-great picture, but once I got the full view and really took in the impressive level of detail I completely changed my mind. The scaling and shell on the turtle and the octupus' tentacles in particular catch my eye, and the textures and unusual and vivid color scheme make the lines jump of my screen. I also love the unique concept.

If I had to nitpick on anything it's the way her skin is shaded, particularly on her shoulders and torso. It seems too soft and expansive, and therefore unnatural given the rest of the shading. Seriously though, I'm reaching. Beautiful work!

Thank you much! My work is definitely simple but it's nice when people look a little closer just because some of the detail really isn't obvious.

Wow, for a short story, that was very moving, as is the picture. I can really see all of the fishes' desire, and her sorrow of no one understanding her, besides the flying fish. Great choice of colors by the way; I like how you used a lot of green for the water instead of the usual blue.

Beautiful concept, and the execution is marvelous. I love that she is human outside of the water, but her submerged body (just her ankles/feet) is that of a mermaid. So great, as usual!
