Description Firstly, I must offer ~salShepherd my most heart-felt apologies for such a late entry. I've had the sketch of this in my book for so long, but with a couple of family medical emergencies, I've had little time to finish this to a standard I'm content with, as I've been assisting in chores and the like on behalf of said family members.
But it is up! With a narrow margin to spare (before the 15th, yay! ) And I'd like to thank them for the extension!

Here is my entry to the 'Draw Me Like One of Your French Stitchpunks' competition, based off of 'Christina's World', painted in 1948 by Andrew Wyeth. An example of it can be found here [link]

Christina's World is one of my most favourite pieces of all-time, and when I saw it in New York on our hard-saved-for holiday to Canada and America, I was awed all over again. It depicts such a strong willed character, who refuses to give up, despite their impairment. Thus it seemed logical to replace Christina making her way home, with an injured 7 heading for Sanctuary.

I admit this image was a little more 'busy' than the original, which contained only the figure and the house, but compared to the Wastes, I think this picture is, like the original art, is bare enough to be similar to the original in themes. It's certainly a slightly different shading style for me, in an attempt to re-create similar contrast. It didn't quite turn out as expected, but certainly made it look better than if I'd done it my usual way.

Hey don't worry about it, we were already contemplating extending the contest, your request was just what tipped the scale. Thank you for entering at all!
Lovely submission, I really like 'Christina's World' also, I remember doing an evaluation of it for class in high school. 7 is a good fit for it.

Thanks very much! ^_^
And that must have been fun to do, it's one where it can mean different things to different people, not just one of those strange abstract pictures with a stripe, with people going, 'Yes...this represents peace'.
