I've finally painted black fur. It's challenging but I love the effect! This was good practice and put a smile on the face of the giftee. They've even set it as their phone background which is so awesome! I actually enjoyed making this - there were times that I found it quite challenging but a lot of the time, I was enjoying the process and seeing how just the right flick of the (digital) brush could create the effect I wanted.

As I'm self-taught, I have no real technique and I definitely make rookie mistakes I think. It's a lot of trial and error and seeing what works. My technique may not be the most artistic, but as long as the finished piece is good enough to me, I think that's most important.

It's always overwhelming whenever I start a piece. I almost give up before I really get going and put it off because I doubt myself so much, but it's worth pushing through to create something you can be proud of. I always start with the eyes, it pushes me to keep going!
